Hello! My name is Jeff and I am a new recently licensed therapist. I am curious to know what types of music different therapists play when giving a certain type of massage! The reason for the question is, I do a lot of sports massages and I am looking for some decent music to play as to the traditional softer stuff I normally use! Thanks!!

Jeff I think this really is about personal preference. For me, doesn't matter what type of massage I give, I prefer the softer more calm music. It keeps me centered and my clients relaxed. I always noticed if I started to play something a little louder or with more intensity my clients became aggitated, started to tighten up and so did I. You have to try different things out and see what works for you. Good luck.
When I am doing sports massage and stretching, I like to use music with a little more beat and variety to it. I tend to choose world music; James Asher draws on a number of world traditions. I enjoy using the up-tempo and play it at a low volume similar to the relaxing music so that I can talk to the client during the session.
