A Poll: Weekdays or weekends; which works best for CEU seminars?
How do you feel about giving up weekday time vs. weekend time for continuing education? As a seminar provider, meeting the needs of the student/therapist is most important.

As an Instructor I am interested in the responses you will get. For two day classes I like to schedule two Saturday or Sundays in a row rather than taking the full weekend. As for week days they are a complete puzzlement to me for scheduling one or two day classes. Perhaps the responses will reveal some sort of pattern.

That's my hope as well. Weekend scheduling has been the norm for a long time, but is that what therapists want?

Generally, I prefer weekends as it does not mess up client schedules. If within reasonable driving range, I prefer two consecutive Saturdays as I am very involved with my church on Sunday.
However, I have had requests to offer classes on weekdays rather than weekends for various reasons. Some people were Jewish and would not attend on a Friday night or Saturday, some had busy personal weekends, some worked in spas or similar arrangements and were busiest on weekends. I won't offer on a Sunday but I would gladly do a weekday if that suited enough people.
I think I like the 2 or 3 day weekend the best, especially when there is a drive or flight involved.

Hi Walt! I agree, I often ask myself this question. And another factor is that so many therapists take Mondays off, so should that be considered part of the weekend? I'm not sure if therapists kids out of school on weekends may paly a factor or the husband off on weekends to watch the kids. Airline/hotel fees are usually cheaper through the week. There really are a lot of factors. Sun is the one down day for most therapists so that should factor in also.
I will keep The World Massage Festival, basically Th-Sun, with a small research gathering starting on W-F. Seems to work well so far. This way it allows them to fly home Mon (which many are off) and then go right back to work with their new modalities, right on time!

If it were a good deep tissue/myofascial/trigger point class about twenty minutes from my home, I would choose the weekend. But I really have no time for seminars anymore. For the next three to four years it will have to be correspondence.

In Florida we have to have 12 hours of hands on CE hours every two years for license renewal. It really does not matter to me if it is during the week or on the weekend. If it is a class I really want to take I will request the time off and go as long as it is reasonably priced. CE classes priced more than $20 an hour is way too much these days. Instructors need to take that into consideration as well.

I'm w/Darcy, I really don't care what day of the week the seminar occurs. If it's a class I really am interested in, I'll just mark my schedule out to take it. Now, my husband might not like me missing out on our weekends together, but he understands if I need to take a class.
