Hello all! I am practicing hot stone massage where I work at a massage & wellness center.  I enjoy working with the hot stones a lot however I have a hard time with the routine.  It seems like there's a lot of steps and you have to get the timing down just right.  Example: when do I put in the toe stones and for how long? Do I put them in before I start the leg or before I start massaging anything? I know there are several ways to do it but does anyone have a way that works well for them, in terms of a full body hot stone routine?  I'd love to hear what works well for you! Step by step. Thanks a lot for your input.

Hi Gina,
I'm sure if you looked on YouTube you would find a tutorial on hot stone massage. I've never worked with toe stones because I've taken those stones, chilled them in cooler temperature water, and used them to massage the face and sinus points at the end of the massage.

Hi Gina, I use hot stones in my work, but it is very different than the routine where you let them lay on the body for a period of time. That takes some experience and time to develop a routine you are comfortable with. I have found the most wonderful hot stones you can imagine. Although you cannot leave them laying on your client's body, (you must keep them moving at all times), they are self heating to a good therapeutic temperature, rechargable, no water mess to deal with, hot on one side yet cool where you handle them. They are like glazed stoneware rocks. In my opinion, these are the massage therapy product of the century and the guys who invented them deserve some kind of award! And no, I do not know them, am not associated with it, have not been asked to promote them in any way, I am just in awe of what a perfect massage tool they are. In my decade-long quest for sustainable heat that lasts at least an hour (these last up to 2 hours) I have used all manner of heating pads, deer corn filled socks, gel pads, and an outrageously overpriced set of electricly heated ceramic discs which were difficult to keep clean of oils, and the electric cords kept getting twisted and broken, just to name a few. These wonderful stones are called Sassi Stones, and if you get them, you will love them. They come as a pair, 2 stones, 2 batteries, and 2 chargers. It takes 4 hours to recharge the battery, so I got 4 extra batteries and I can use them all day long with no trouble getting the heat I want. You can take a look at them at www.sassistones.com . I've been using mine every day for about a month and they never disappoint. When I called to order the extra batteries I asked if they would be at the WMF in 2012, and they said they would come. I will be so happy to shake the hand of the guys who came up with such an innovative product!

So, anyway, I think they have a routine for a timed, full body massage, and it would be easy to do using the pair of stones.  Hope this helps!

I looked at the website and that sounds awesome! Seems like a huge time saver during the session. Thanks for the info!
