massage and bodywork professionals

a community of practitioners

Hi everybody this is Cindy from Shanghai, China!

I have recently found out about this site and it's a great source of information. I would like to get in touch with people here in China - particularly massage specialists and professionals - because I've just started a new website about massage in Shanghai and I'd like to feature some experts' articles and guides on the subject. Obviously I will reward you and pay you by the article!

I am looking for experts in the ways of traditional Chinese massage and tui na (pretty much the same as shiatsu. I have my own practice here in Shanghai and I'd be more than happy to share experiences of the market and the local industry with other professionals.

Please contact me through private massage if you have any questions about China, I'd be more than happy to help!

Best regards,

Cindy

Cindy you might want to get in touch with my friend Dr. Zhang Yu. She has a Tuina pediatric clinic in Liaoyang, Liaoning Shen. I know that is a distance north from you. She is here on massageprofessionals but better to contact her by phone or email. She does Xiao Er Tuina which method has been passed down in her family for generations.

Maybe see you in Shanghai sometime.

Hello Cindy,

This ABMP website focuses on what we in the United States refer to as "professional massage".  Our site guideline #4 specifically excludes "Inappropriate or illicit references to massage/bodywork" on this site. This wording is generally understood in the US to refer to massage which includes sexual services.

From the looks of your website, you  offer and promote both "professional massage" and also sexual massage. Because your site promotes sexual massage, reference to it is against the purpose and guidelines of the conversation on this ABMP website.

Thank you for understanding,

Babara Helynn

Barbara are you referring to the ads on the right side of page? I didn't see much information on the pages. It seems to be template type site. China also does not allow but like everything else there will tolerate sensual/erotic massage. Oh yes and we do too on state regs and ability to enforce.

Are you nationally licensed in Tuina? Doesn't that require a three year course of study as Shiatsu does in Japan. Usually in the USA Massage Therapist is only six months to a year. We do not have national licensing, each state determines the regulations and issues certification/license. In some states there is still no professional license but cities may issue licenses.

You may face resistance from American Massage Therapists because we have a problem in the USA with many Chinese women coming to America then getting certified so they can work in the Chinese sex busineses using massage as a cover. These are common throughout the United States.

Aloha Daniel,

the ad at the lower right corner of the page is certainly the most blatant sexual reference that caught my attention.  It's unclear to me if this ad comes fromt he owner of the site or someone else.

My eye also picked up on the heading "girls" in the navigation bar and  the sentence describing the this site, "please follow us to get all the latest information on masseuses, massage parlors, girls, outcall massage services, tips and tricks to make your stay in Shanghai easier and more relaxed"  Finally, the choice of photos.

aloha,

Barbara Helynn
