What are your thoughts on requiring clients to store a credit/debit card on file when scheduling an appointment? We have no shows quite often and they rarely pay the $35 no show fee bc we have to way to charge them if they aren't here. Appointments are confirmed the day before to try and cut down on this, but sadly its still a common situation in our spa.

No-shows are stealing income from your therapists and spa. Requiring a credit card, prevents this business loss. This can be especially damaging for extended spa services or when multiple customers schedule as a group, such as a couples service. I have not seen a business suffer because they enforce this policy. Most clients respect the policy when it is explained why it needs to be enforced. Have you ever calculated the cost of no-show clients to your business or commissioned therapists? If it is a number that affects the bottom line, it's time to start confirming appointments with a credit card.

This is exactly my thought! And to me, if a client doesn't schedule bc of that policy, they weren't the kind of client we should be attracting in the first place. The doctors have a fear that people will be turned off and not want to schedule. To me, it will get us the correct clientele and they will be more respectful of our time and services.

I agree here! I've always wanted to require a CC when scheduling an appointment...What to say to clients when they book about this? It also needs to be listed on the intake form, on the website and over the phone, correct?
