The Recession Is "Officially" Over!!! How Will Your Business Change?

Loaded question huh? Most folks are looking around for the jobs! GDP has grown. We still will see a lag in the economy. I think we are moving forward. The stock market is growing. If we can get the banks to lend again, people will expand their business. I think folks will continue to save their money and make sure before they start growth and expansion, again.

What do you think?

Since I opened up "shop" in the middle of this crisis and am succeeding, I can only predict that my client list will continue to grow. Plus, I believe that there are a number of clients that would love to get more massage, but have been holding back due to the uncertainty of the economy. There have been a number of new clients over the past few weeks on the books. I have high hopes! I would like to be able to expand next summer....
You go Marissa! If you need any help, holler!

I know I'm in the UK but we have a recession here too.

Although my business is going from strength to strength.

I am a solo therapist with no intention of owning or running a clinic so expansion would be difficult but I have as many clients at the moment as I have working hours.
Well I'm glad you are doing well. And if you don't expand then you have more money. We need more therapists from the UK on this site. Tell all your friends!

Hi Samantha,

It is so good to hear from you again. You will know when the time is right! Listen to the "little voice!"

I'll say it- i'm a wimp! I still dread failing in this ecomony and have played down my desires to go ahead with opening and operating a business full time in massage therapy. I'm still trying to play the wait and see game. I think it has a way to go before we fully recover and people spend their money as free as they used too!
I have heard this from a lot of schools. This will probably cause some to close down. Depends on which ones, good or bad. Thanks!

PS! When I was in school- we started out with like 30 some people, the class that just got done with their first semester of classes where i went- there was 3 (1 moved on) and the incoming class has i think my instructor said around 5. fyi for how people are becoming a little leary to jump into this field now a days.
Well, I'm glad you are feeling better! We are having fun right now trying to get to 4,000 members tonite by mid-nite! Could use a hand. Invite everyone you know. Students count too. Think we need 39 more. Thanks!

I'm not so sure the recession is "officially" over. The DOW fell 250 points today. Gas is back up to almost $3.00 a gallon here in Pensacola, FL.

The massage business is thriving though. I have had the best 2 weeks since the middle of June.
As always, Breathe..... this too will pass..... Great news about work!

The recession has not hurt my business much at all. I'm actually ahead of last year. The one change I noticed was that other small business owners, who had standing weekly appointments, cut back because their own business was in trouble, and some of them are now trickling back in.

It did hurt my husband's business (construction). In 2008, he made about half what he did in 2007, and this year has been about half of that, but he's been busy again for about the past three months. In fact, the job he is doing right now, which is remodeling an old cabin into a guest house, when the owner called him he said, "The recession is over, let's do it!"

I hope for prosperity for everyone.
Thank you Laura!
I don't think the economy is getting any better. Actually in Seattle it is finally getting worse! I hear of people who work in big businesses downtown that don't have any work and are planning more layoffs. My financial advisors and from what I have read the economy is going to take a bigger nosedive than it already has - that doesn't mean that your personal economy has to follow! What is most important I think is to be creating more streams of income and create things that will bring you income now and in the future - like I am doing ebooks, promoting affiliate programs and spreading out into CE calendars online.

We need to start being more creative and combine that with living within our means too.
