Grooviest hair in the profession - Dalton, Hinkle or Baltz?

This is a pretty big question, I know.

It may not be as serious as commenting on the latest release of the MTBOK (something we ALL should be doing since it will have a major impact on our profession), but it's still something we should think about and ponder while we're in the shampoo aisle.

OK so, here are the nominations:

Erik Dalton PhD

Mike Hinkle

Bruce Baltz

Steve Capellini

Yamuna Zake

John Barnes

Chip Hines

Christopher A. Moyer PhD

Gloria Coppola

THE SURVEY WILL BE OPEN UNTIL MARCH 3rd.

ALSO, the MTBOK comment period is open until March 8th, but please don't leave it 'til the last minute.

I'll keep you update on the "who's in the lead" every couple of days (along with a wee reminder to COMMENT ON THE MTBOK!!!  I might add a joke or two here and there).

Please feel free to put the link all over the place.

May all your locks be lovely and may you never have a bad hair day.

MTBOK = serious stuff.

Lovely hair = not that serious.

Dalton for me, too...no contest...He has the look that makes my fingers twitch to do a scalp massage.
Yamuna has wonderful, lovely locks too.
I would like to know if the Pulchritudinous ones are Pantene or Tresemme users. OR maybe they're expensive hair salon product users.
My vote goes to the eccentric/legendary founder of chiropractic, Dr. D D Palmer...definitely the 'mad-scientist' look!

I gotta admit, I'm a Dalton hair fan.

But only when he's rockin' the mad scientist look.

So.
Big news tonight.

The Daltonites have come into the picture.

Erik has sprinted into the lead.
Quick update on the lovely head front:

Dalton is still "ahead" with around 32% of the votes.
Moyer is right behind him with 27%
and Yamuna is coming in 3rd with 13%

45% of respondents have said they intend to give comments on the MTBOK and 17% said they already have, so that's pretty cool.

I'll be sending out an email blast that will include a link to the survey to around 300 therapists in TX (through another wee site) over the next couple of days so we'll see how that goes on the voting map.

OK, so on to MTBOK TALK!

I'm sure you all know by now how they've made it easy to give comments on an online form now, where you identify the line number etc.

So today I was wondering if I could get an actual phrase right into the MTBOK where I would know for definite that they had used my phrase. For example, if you had a phrase that had the word wheelbarrow in it and you knew for definite that no one else had thought of the wheelbarrow aspect of massage, you know?
I'm only using the word wheelbarrow as an example to make a point.
I don't actually use wheelbarrows in my massage practice...........that often.

It would be cool to look at the end result and say "that was my line".
Yes, so COMMENT TODAY!

It could end up being a hair-flicking ego-trip and sure, what is better than that? (Especially if you have lovely hair).
I vote for Baltz but you have a great point, Go Gloria!

Ok squirrel, I just voted. You know who we missed? Gloria Coppola; she has gorgeus, red locks!

I'll give an update tonight on the latest.

Voting is anonymous, so if you're nominated you can vote for yourself, no one will ever know - not even me.
HAIR.

You know, I'm thinking there might have to be some new CE classes for 'Hair and scalp massage - the key to keeping everyone's hair as lovely as the PhDs in our profession".

Not much change on the standings front.

Erik is now at 37% and the other doc is behind him at 23%, but we've got more of a "mixture" going on with everyone else in the running.
The number of people that have voted isn't very high, so I'm asking everyone to get the word out about the survey. It's a bit of fun, but it may also drive people to read and comment on the MTBOK.

As far as MTBOK responses go a whopping 44% have said they INTEND to give feedback. You've still got a few weeks, so please be sure to do so!

Here are some other ideas on how to get the word out about the MTBOK

- Schools and Educators - send an email blast to your students/ex-students and tell them about the importance of commenting on the MTBOK. Bring up the MTBOK at staff meetings with teachers at your schools.

- MTs - tell your MT buddies about it. If you've printed out a copy and given your comments, bring it into your workplace and share the doc with other therapists there. Leave it on your break room table and tell people how important their feedback is. Put a link to the MTBOK on your facebook page etc.

- Anyone that sells products to therapists - send an email blast.

Everyone is welcome to use the hair voting link as well (www.surveymonkey.com/s/FW6LRWL)

The more votes for THE MOST PRESTIGIOUS TITLE IN THE WORLD OF MASSAGE THERAPY, the better.

I still haven't been able to find a hairy frame. I might have to make one from the shavings from my legs (kidding..........kind of).
So guess what I did last night?

I entered my comments on the MTBOK!
Yay!!!!

It took me about 30 minutes since you've to fill in the form for each line you're referring to - but it's cool since their form is very easy to use and precise.

So here's something interesting that was a by-product of providing comments. I learned some stuff!

Yep, for example, I had no idea what a mirror neuron was until I read about it (around line 954) (and yes, I'd to wiki it, as I have to do with most things these days).
Anyway, it's cool to learn something new and I bet I'm not the only one that will learn from going through the document. Oh, and if you're thinking "The squirrel must be as dumb a post since she didn't know what a mirror neuron was".
You're right!

So, after I'd entered my comments I felt pretty good, you know, like I'd done my bit. I view the whole giving comments exercise as a way of giving back to the profession and sure, aren't we all givers really?
So if you haven't commented yet, please go ahead and do that givey thing and make yourself feel good at the same time.

As for the hair thing? We're in desperate need of more votes. Please help get the word out!

Cheers!
Interesting developments afoot!

Our favorite redhead is coming up from behind to be in joint 3rd place. Yes, Gloria Coppola is coming up like Apolo Anton Ohno and I'm cheering her on!

Oh, and by the way, COMMENT ON THE MTBOK IF YOU HAVEN'T DONE SO ALREADY.......I'm off here to watch the Olympics.
You all realize that if you said that you INTEND to give comments and you don't then you'll have an Irish curse set upon you which isn't lovely.

And the curse will involve your hair.

Yes, you'll end up with SPECTOR HEAD if you don't comment.

So COMMENT TODAY, folks.

(Of course, there may be some amongst us that would actually like to have Spector head, if that's the case, "friend" me and I can arrange something just for you....)
Does anybody actually read this thread anyway?

For sure. It's hands-down the most important thread on the site - scratch that, it's the most important thread on the whole internet.
I love this discussion. Thanks Vlad.
