  • Bonny Donnelly

" Tian Di "Bamboo Massage is incredible! The first of it's kind, it is unique and distinctly different giving your client maximum therapeutic value while saving stress and strain on your hands/fingers. We use only 100% NATURAL bamboo sticks handcrafted specifically to Ernesto's original design. NO other woods or fillers are blended or fused into our "cho sticks" making them light to use and hollow to fill with healing energy, and allowing you to feel though them. No need to heat or chill them, true bamboo's natural properties allow for that.

    Aloha Group,
I'm looking for someone who'd like to sponsor a LomiLomi Training in Georgia. NCBTMB approved CE Hours. This isn't the typical lomilomi training that has spread across the U.S. This training takes you to the roots and truth of Temple Style Lomilomi, the cause and effect of true healing through Hawaiian values, and empowers you with knowledge and understanding. We explore the new age interpretations, traditional concepts so you can offer the world the best of both! Sponsor takes the training at no cost. Anyone interested?

    Hi there Georgia!
Are you enjoying your edition of the Georgia PERG (Professional Education & Resource Guide)? I am the publisher, and so far I've received some calls and e-mails from therapists who like it a lot. And calls from more Continuing Education Providers who plan to advertise in the Fall Edition, which comes out in July. If you are licensed in Georgia, you should all have received the booklet in the mail by now. Let me know what you think! You can also download a copy at www.proedresourceguide.com.
  • Robb Doyle

I'm known as a veteran for the passage of the Georgia Massage Therapy Practice Act... Hello Jane and Charles!

News of SB 364 alarms me into networking now with other GA LMTs. SB 364 appears to be a mid-GA sponsored legislative effort to combat prostitution by raising penalties and granting local government control of massage businesses.

This is not the best practice for combating international slave trade which has surfaced in Macon and other areas.

I for one have no interest in seeing anything like the old Atlanta massage technician permit resurrected with a $250/yr cost with a required annual visit to a physician for a sworn statement of being free of transmittable by hand diseases.

I also suspect that this is a move by cities and counties as a means to increase their revenues.

I am hoping to see a co-ordinated effort evolve in squashing this bad piece of legislation before it spreads and takes root. I am chomping at the bits and raring to go. Let's get the conversation started here.
  • Jane Johnson, LMT

    Good Morning Robb,
SB 364 is simply a bold attempt to impact prostitution and human trafficking through our Massage Therapy Practice Act. I have been researching and communicating for the last week and hope to have a better picture today or tomorrow. Then based on the info gathered, we can create a plan!
  • Charles Dane

    Hello Robb and Jane,
I am known as a pain in the ars, otherwise I would be more successful in getting things done in Georgia. But with that said, I will be happy to assist with phone calls and or writing letter to support my colleagues in any manner I can. As long as it does not include, contacting the Georgia Licensing Board!
  • Jane Johnson, LMT

Hi Charles, Glad to know you are eager to help! I'll keep you posted as I find out and would appreciate any time you could offer! And no, the Georgia Board of Massage Therapy does not need to be contacted, this does not fall under their (our) responsibilities! Enjoy this beautiful day!
  • Robb Doyle

The bill went before the Judiciary Committee today. I will call the committee secretary tomorrow to find out it's disposition.
  • Toni Roberts

I would like to help also. We need just one regulatory body, state or local, preferably state, but not both.
  • Jane Johnson, LMT

    Well Hello Toni!!!!
Working on it right now. The trio is back!
  • Toni Roberts

I guess so. The whole point from my point of view was to put massage regulation in state hands.
  • Toni Roberts

Why hasn't the GR committee notified our members about this and set up a forum to discuss it?
  • Robb Doyle

I was just chatting with Linda Christie on Facebook... she said the GA BOD voted Sun pm to pay for the added unbudgeted lobbyist expense and the GA chair spoke with the lobbyist on Mon.

Linda said that she was the only one that she knew of who was running for Chapter President, whose election will be this Saturday.
  • Robb Doyle

  • Jane Johnson, LMT

The GR committee has been busy researching the issues around SB 364 in hopes of understanding the amendments better before notifing members because we have only had bits and pieces. The GR committee has compiled concerns and comments this week as interpretations and other information has come in. That was necessary to make an informed decision. The GR Chair can be contacted through the website at www.amtaga.org or call ABMP, NCBTMB, to voice your concerns. I am not sure any forums will be set up at this point. A link is set to go up on the website in the next day. The Chapter Board is preparing for the annual meeting this weekend and more info will be available then, too. I hope this helps. The GA Chapter GR is working with our Lobbyist on SB 364.
