Therapist practicing in the State of Nevada
  • Ralph Baudry

Greetings! Nice to see a fellow Nevada therapist who cares about our industry as well. I hope our forums will bring us closer together as a community and help us share information relating to our profession,
  • Guiselle Marroquin

Hey there! Looks like we are "the few, the proud" lol.... we must be really busy if we are the only therapists in Nevada!!!
I look forward to watch our community grow!
  • Amy Vedder

Heads up NV therapist. You need to see the memo on NSBMT web site regarding CA. schooling and CEU's policies.
  • Lorrie J. LMT, CKTP

Glad to be a part of what I hope will be a growing community. Will it help at all if we state if we are in the North or South? I know there are different issues on either end of the state.
  • Ralph Baudry

Any CEU's with hands on comming to the Las Vegas area? Anyone have a link to these? Most of ours in the north as provided either online or out of state.
  • Lorrie J. LMT, CKTP

If you are interested in learning Kinesiotaping there are courses in Vegas Oct 3 and 4. Their web site is www.kinesiotaping.com . I have been using this modality for 3 years now and have found it to be a really great way of expanding my practice. Their CEUs are approved by nctmb.
  • Lorrie J. LMT, CKTP

Also Ralph, here in the North there are a couple of CEUs available every month provided by Ralston. Some of them are hands on, others are business. The site is: www.kneadknowledge.com. Next date is July 31st and is on muscle strength and compenstation. The quality of these short courses have varied but they are only $20 and worth 2 CEUs
  • Ralph Baudry

Thanks so much, I will look into those!
  • Guiselle Marroquin

    Hi Ralph,
Here are a couple of websites of places here in Vegas that continually hold CEUs

Okay everyone I went to the 1st meeting of the newly forming NAMP, Nevada alliance of massage professionals. It was a great meeting and I think everyone who is a NV massage therapist should be joining. This was formed after some of them had received cease and desist orders from "our" board. They learned some hard and fast rules on how to amend the bills that were currently in play with the legislature and are asking that we get involved as they were informed by the board that there will be more up and coming challenges from the board with new legislature in the future. They have a website and will be updating the info soon....read what is there and ask me anything. www.nvamp.org. We need for all the Nevada therapist to get involved with this as this in something we can make a difference with. This is a board for US.
  • Ralph Baudry

Thanks for your information Amy, I will read their website and see what they are all about
  • Amy Vedder

Your welcome Ralph, if you have any ? Feel free to ask.

Hi Amy. I am glad you started this group. I really enjoy the massage and bodywork professionals site. I wanted to let members know that I have a new book out called Creating Peace with Your Hands and it is also a home study course approved by NCBTMB and NV for 12 CE Hours. It is great for anyone's library as it helps therapists with personal body maintenance to prevent injury. Look forward to talking with other NV therapists in the future. Have a great day!

Okay here is an update on what the NVAMP is doing. They are going to have a few MT's at the Board retreat in LV on Oct. 16th. NVAMP would like to have therapist who are in the area get together for a meeting like the one we had in Reno so you can see and decide for yourselves on OCT. 15th. I posted a link to there site so please check it out www.NVAMP.org. It is so worth it for us therapist to ban together and help each other. This is a great way for you to get involved and attend a meeting with the newly formed NVAMP. I will post more info when I have it. Hope everyone can pass the word around even if you will not be able to attend please "tell a friend".

    Love and Light,
    Amy

Here is more info for upcoming meeting of NVAMP in Las Vegas. Everyone please plan on attending or at least tell your fellow therapist so that they may attend. PASS it along.Calling all Massage Therapists!!! Any questions?

Join us on Thursday October 15, 2009 for a meeting at the Super 8 Las Vegas, 4250 Koval Lane, Las Vegas. Doors open 6:30pm, meeting starts at 7:00pm. Bring your friends. The meeting is being hosted by Nevada Alliance of Massage Professionals (NAMP).

Many feel the changes in our profession resulting from state licensure, ensuing legislative changes, the State Board’s regulations and the manner in which they are being carried out require a stronger voice. Massage therapists need a collective voice in vital issues that affect our profession and livelihood.

We endeavor to have a healthy relationship with the Board and their Staff while holding them accountable for their actions, if outside the law.

We hope you will join our voice in shaping the future of our profession in the state of Nevada.

Also coming up: Nevada State Board of Massage Therapists, Board Retreat, Friday October 16, Monte Lago Resort, Henderson and regular Board meeting on Friday, October 23, Las Vegas/Reno. Plan to attend so your voice can be heard!
