This is a group for those massage therapists who are interested in relaxation massage and helping people de-stress. This is a place where we can share ideas and learn from one another.
I make a point of finding the best, most relaxing music to play for my clients. Please share with us what CD's you like the best so we can check them out.
The CD I am using right now is ECHOES OF THE SOUL by Paul Zimmer. It is soft sounds of the Flute.I found this at the Fairhope, AL Arts and Crfts Festival this year. it is really nice. I also change out with a CD by Carly Farley called UNWIND. It is Guitar music and very nice as well.
I like to set up playlists that are at least three hours long on my iPod. That way there is no clatter from the CD changing or re-starting.
Some of my favorite instrumental music is called "Lifescapes" and is sold at Target. They have a kiosk where you can hear samples of the different CDs. I personally like "Relaxing Piano", "Relaxing Harp", and "Duets: Flute and Harp".
Some of my other instrumental favorites are "Garden of Peace: Music for Reflection" produced by Rivercrest and "@ Peace: Music from Big Sur" by Michael Benghiat.
A favorite artist is R. Carlos Nakai, who plays simple but beautiful melodies on a native American wood flute. His music will carry your client's minds away to drift over a warm, sunny dessert. I think his best CDs are "Canyon Trilogy" and "Inner Voices".
J.S. Bach's "Brandenburg Concertos" are wonderful for massage. Antonio Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons" is also good, but it may be a little too up temp for some people. Both are performed by string orchestras and have a steady tempo and volume that works well for massage, and they're an enjoyable change when the usual massage music gets too boring.
And one final suggestion is "Bones" by Gabrielle Roth & the Mirrors. It is nothing but drums, which you wouldn't think would be relaxing. But it's another CD that helps your client's mind drift away.
Something I ran across since 2010: Rockabye Baby CDs. They sell classic rock music rendered as lullabies.
The aren't for everyone, but it tickles my sense of humor to hear Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, the Beatles, the Eagles and others rendered as children's lullabies.
