I zumba, drink mostly water, and quite drinking soda.

  • Tanya Shyes

Amy that is great, zumba is a great exercise and it is fun to. How often do you get massages for yourself?
  • Darcy Neibaur

Amy I am on the massage table receiving a massage at least once a week and if possible twice a week most weeks. Last year I joined CURVES gym and this year I purchased my self the most state of the art Treatmill from www.fitnessblowout.com. I Love the treadmill and walking each day on it. Also stretch those I T Bands each morning and night while laying on the bed. Stretch my back neck and shoulders in between each massage. I am lucky to have a hot tub and sauna as my self care is my priority. If I do not take care of myself I will be no good to anyone else. Also stretch my hands in many different each day.

Great site and great post Darcy. I teach personal Body Maintenace for Bodyworkers and believe that staying healthy and injury free comes from living a wholistic lifestyle. Therapists should adopt a healthy lifestyle to continue practicing for many years. Look forward to more discussions!

Good morning everyone, I wanted to share with you all that I recently bought a juicer. I had no idea how wonderful they are! I feel amazing after only a few servings of veggies and fruit. I do one in the morning and one at lunch then water through out the day. I recommend it to anyone who wants to feel really energized and the taste is great if you add some type of sweet fruit, like an apple, orange or pineapple. I will keep  you posted on the results. If you have any experience with a juicer or any other healthy idea please share.
  • Tanya Shyes

All new members I would like to welcome you to the group and invite you to please share and connect with other therapists and students. We are all in this together!! Have a WONDERFUL HEALTHY DAY!

I was given a juicer recently and I LOVE it!  I need to be more consistent with it, but it's so easy!!!  I need to get a book and use the recipes...
  • Frank J

I  have/had a juicer. Not a big fan of them. I would much rather just eat my fruits and veggies. I have garden in the backyard
  • Tanya Shyes

Carrie I am with you on the JUICE LOVE, theres a website I use to find really good recipes it is www.juicingforhealth.com . I have done a few for energy boost. Check it out and let me know what you think. Happy Juicing.
  • Kris Bour

I have a juicer.  I love the juice, I hate cleaning it.  That is the biggest drawback for me.
  • Tanya Shyes

I don't mind the clean up until I get to the strainer, thats the part I don't like, but over all it's worth the juice.

  • Frank J

Kris that is one reason I dont like them. Like i said before I would rather eat them but I prefer smoothies if i had a choice
  • Tanya Shyes

I have done many things in my career to stay healthy. Proper diet/nutrition, yoga/exercise, FUN, massage, positive people etc

I even offer health coaching now because I have found the most difficult part for people is to have the motivation to continue on the path. Some need a helping hand, others don't realize there is much that can be done nutritionally and many don't realize all the emotional components involved. Even LMT's need this support!

I stopped getting massage myself for about 6 months following a relocation of my practice - basically left a thriving practice and moved to start up again. Those 6 months without bodywork convinced me to get back to receiving weekly massage. I now receive two hours of integrated Swedish every other week alternating with a session combining hand and foot reflexology and deep neck work. Yes! I'm happy again!

  • Megan Smith

I do daily stretching for flexibility, cardio 4-5 times a week for focus, only do 2-3 massage hours a day...many other things as well. As far as what I do before I start my day, I make sure to write down everything I'd like to get done that day, so I can give my client my full attention. Right before I walk in to start the session I remind myself why I love what I do and set the tone for the session, deep warm breathing. Once I'm in the room everything I do to calm the client also gives me peice. When I ask them to breath its a reminder for me to breath as well.

T spheres® are innovative and unique self-massage balls born from over 17 years of research & development. This natural way to relieve pain from the body uses two of the most scientifically researched alternative methods for stress relief- aromatherapy and massage. The infusion of aromatherapy essential oils into a purified, perfectly weighted organic rubber compound has never been accomplished before; making t spheres the only massage ball with both beneficial attributes.

Massage Therapists can utilize t spheres in a variety of ways. A therapist can use t spheres as a self-care tool and in session either with or without oil. These palm sized aromatherapy infused massage balls can be used for sports massage or chair massage with a client that is clothed or be utilized with oil during a massage session.

Therapists can use t spheres either hot or cold and with various different techniques in session. Oils such as lavender, peppermint, and grapefruit are infused within the t spheres. Professional use t spheres are also available and are non scented. These aromatherapy infused massage balls can be used for direct pressure, myofascial release, trigger point work, and for acupressure points. T spheres® truly save therapists' hands and help to prevent RSI.
Creating Peace with Your Hands live seminar is taught by Karina Braun, LMT from Get In Touch Education. This course teaches injury prevention techniques that include basic t sphere technique for the back, neck, shoulders, and face. The combination of essential oils and massage produce a great experience for the client and create less strain on a therapist's body. After taking this course, massage therapists will gain knowledge on injury prevention techniques and learn how to include t spheres into any massage session. Also, you will be able to make extra income by offering t spheres as a take- home tool for your client. Present RSI today by including t spheres into your massage and self-care routine.
