I share a rented space in Blossom Business Center next to Artisan Works. I think I remember you. Your smile is familiar. Were you in the afternoon classes part time.
Well I was right about the Part time thing. This space is new to me. I have only been in business for myself a month. It became a tinkle or get off the pot kinda thing. I swear to you my middle name is actually "wing-it", because that is exactly how I do it. So to answer your question : Not good, but certainly looking-up!
I worded myself wrong. I meant is that a Spa/Salon or is it a salon that happens to have a massage room that you rent? Sorry about that. I have basically worked for both. Which is why I asked. So is it a nice place are you happy?
It sounds great. Good luck at work may the tipping God's smile upon you greatly. Today is a marketing day for me. I don't have any clients today ,so I need to work on what else I can do to build. What do you find is your biggest obstacle to building a clientele?
Yes I do Chair massage. I am currently working toward finding a place I can have a long standing arrangement with. As a means of income as well as building. I don't have a supplimentel income massage is all I have at the moment. Yep I am going to wait till the crap really hits the fan before I get a jobby-job.
Absolutely! I am trying to get me foot in the door at Hammer Packaging. I did a wellness fair there through Harmony Expositions last year. We played email tag , but nothing really came of it. I just sent their HR an email this morning. I am currently typing a letter to my clients letting them know I do chair massage and to think of me for their company, events, wellness fairs, benefits. If I get a bite I'll let you know.
Nope, actually Dr. Jill sold her practice and Jonathan McDonnell (acupuncturist, used to work in education at NYIM) now owns it as ADIO Acupuncture & Wellness Center. They are both great people, though!
Hi Kevin,
In addition to HR departments, Risk Management contacts are great for "preventative care" marketing. A few years ago I was asked by a local RS company to come do chair massage. They told me the cost of carpal tunnel surgery was about 75k, so compared to paying for their employees, the fact that massage can not only elminate, but reverse CT symptoms, is a great selling feature. The first time I went to the company not as many signed up although the employer was covering the entire cost. They were hesitant and reluctant as they didn't know what to expect, by the time I went a 2nd time word of mouth spread and the number of those signed up DOUBLED and the 3rd time it "trippled." It happened to be too much for me at the time, so I haven't been back, although I just wasn't interested in pursuing a full time practice of chair massage, 2) I couldn't do it by myself and 3) it was difficult to find 1 or 2 professional, steady, & reliable therapists to take with me. I did happen to raise my rates the last time from $15/person, to $20 and they didn't have any problem with it at all--at that time a 1 hour massage was averaging $60/hr. Caution on the Golf Course, it's a great place, but I was recently contacted by a company contracting for a local golf course & they represented themselves as being WITH the golf course, but they were a separate agency and when I checked them out, I found several rip-off reports on them. I'd be happy to provide that info...maybe I should post something about it. Best wishes on your pursuits!
