    Hi Kris, glad to meet you.  I'm a MT in Blue Springs Mo., a suburb of Kansas City. I noticed you were talking to someone about the massage being specific to the clients wants, and I'm sure, needs.  That is what I've based my work on: Doing the massage as much as possible to fit the clients wants and needs.  It is a waste of time and money to do otherwise in my opinion.  Most people don't seem to do that at all. I don't know how many times I've gone to get a massage, pointed out that I needed extra work in a particular area and then got the same standard massage they give everyone.  The majority of the people I''ve worked on come in with heavy pain in neck & shoulders, lower back & hips, usually from stress.  They're looking for relief and I think it's a disservice to them not to make those areas the the prime objective.  A little all over massage to tie things together is needed too but it's not the most important part; pain relief is what people need most. in my opinion.

    I got my training in Los Angeles - Massage School of Santa Monica (1996).  Still in practice.

    Do you know by any chance an international network of massage therapists?  I always had a fantasy of creating a network where we get to travel around the world and hang out with like minded people and learn and exchange...

    Thanks for touching in, Kris.  Sorry to hear that the financial climate is still tough for a lot of people out there.  My business in CT has been fairly stable.  I believe the trauma care specialty helps, as there are few other practitioners.

    Hi Kris, Thanks for the invite. Sorry to hear about the economy in Los Vegas. I haven't seen much change in Northern MN, the people (very few) who got massage before the recession still receive massage. It's more about getting people to try massage, it's still a foreign concept to most people up here. Very few Massage Therapists up here can survive without a part time job.     Thank you for the welcome Kris! Its wonderful to have a place just for massage therapists. I will read more about you on your page~as a nation and as therapists it is greatly beneficial to understand how our peers and fellow Americans are doing around the country, so that we can help our profession and our society stay healthy. I am very sorry to hear that Las Vegas is in such a dire position, I would like to know more. Please stay in touch or ask any questions that you like. I believe that in the climate of today's economy, there are many way to increase our self-sufficiency and independence without depending on government intervention. I am working to build a network of people who'd like to build an intentional community that would also serve as a wellness center, arts colony and organic farm, where bartering would rule the day. Inexpensive or even free holistic health care would be the goal, which is so difficult to find in
    the USA. Its sounds utopian, but versions of this are already in place, for example at the newly organizing Patch Adams Clinic in Philadelphia. There is so much to say, let's start talking!
