Hi Kris, thanks. I see you've been busy connecting which is what it's all about...well, that and getting hands on our clients. I have my state CMT cert, am on ABMP and work's coming in...the whole approach is going in small but steady steps.
Hi Kris, nice to meet you. Like you I've been in the industry a long time...well, down here in Texas anyway. :) I'm new to this forum, so hope to continue networking. Have a fabulous day!
The west coast has many classes I am interested in. I wish the east coast had the same. Oncology, hip/knee replacement etc.. I found some but not until October.
Linda you control what you put on facebook. A business page can help when people search online. You can even treat it like a blog and write articles on massage. Since facebook comes up so high in searches it is better than most directories that are little more than links so the directory owner rises in search. Those are really a waste of time. Use Alexa.com to make sure you list places that are higher in rank not lower than your site. Facebook is ranked 2 in traffic so not something to ignore in my opinion. Any directory over 100,000 traffic rank will get you noticed. One I was invited to join is ranked 6,055,343. And this makes it a liability not a benefit.
Thank you for connecting. I too think it's very important to network with others in our profession. Good way to 'stay in the know' to help our clients better.
Nice to meet you!! I agree, I like to know other massage therapist from different Countries and places,,To me is important to network with other health professionals, Keep in touch! Best regards from Miami.
Thank you for the friend invite. I love talking to other therapists and your idea of taking that global is great. I am open and of love and service, any topic I am open to and willing to talk about. For instance do you work for your self or in a spa? I have done both.
Hi, I was just in Vegas 2 weeks ago, did Grand Canyon & stayed in Sedona! Was great, got a massage in Sedona Jin Shin Jyutsu, a new one for me. Enjoyed...
Hi and nice to meet you too! I'm in North Vancouver British Columbia, as I'm sure you've noticed on my profile. I'm very new to the spa/massage industry and just thought it would be a good idea to talk with some others and maybe learn a bit from them. Thanks for adding me as a friend!
Hi, I'm Michael. Thanks for adding me to your friend list. Just like you I am also trying to connect with other massage therapists around the world. Hopefully one day when I have a chance to visit Las Vegas, we can exchange, share, teach and learn from each other about our techniques.
Yes, thanks for adding me as a friend. I don't know how this works yet.
I also hesitated to add info about my interests in yoga, dance and meditation to my massage website, but finally did because I believe so strongly in their benefits. And, as a massage therapist I know that my clients who are active participants in their healing generally achieve better results in their bodywork. I was just on the phone this am with a client who had been seeing me to relieve pain in her back. I kept encouraging her to try yoga. Fortunately we live near a yoga studio with a very good beginner program and instructors who specialize in rehabilitation. She FINALLY dove in (after a few years!) and has never been the same. It changed her world. She's thrilled with the results. I have other clients who do very well when they combine therapies and dedicate themselves to their body's physical health with activities-weight training, running, yoga, whatever. So, I'm a big believer in the moving arts as an adjunct to massage therapy.
Loved your story about loving being a massage therapist.
Kris, thanks for the friend request. I just joined the site yesterday and I'm actually a student. I've worked as an Occupational Therapy Assistant since 06' so I have some massage experience but I'm looking forward to becoming an LMT. How's the job market out there? I imagine better than average.
Thanks SO much for the friend request! I'm new to this arena so any help I can get would be appreciated! I am an LMT in Iowa and CMT in Minnesota as MN currently does not require licensure. I LOVE this new career and am learning new things everyday! Maybe you can help me along the way.:) Thanks again.
Hi Kris, thanks for the reach out. :) I am re-new back into the industry after quitting for three years and know no one yet. I am excited to make a connection in another state. Whats it like to work in Las Vegas?
Kris, Nice to meet you. I am currently a student, so just getting started. Glad to be networking so early on! I'm loving school and enjoying the ride so far! Happy to chat with you anytime.
I am more than happy to participate in your network, but just for clarity, I am not myself a massage therapist or body worker. My wife is. I am a business coach that teaches marketing and sales to the holistic healers and bodyworkers.
Nice to meet you Kris! I was in Los Angeles building a private practice. Then my wife and I decided to move closer to our east coast family. Now I am getting set up out here in western MA. Waiting on license from state...
I am trying to connect as well, same as Kelly said. I started my business in March and having a hard time getting clients. I don't really have any money and I used my tax refund to start my business. I can't afford anything that costs money so really difficult for me. I have car magnets, tshirts and business cards and a website through ABMP. I get about 1 client a month. I have no back up job. I am having a hard time getting any kind of work in a spa or any kind of retail or food service. I worked at Disneyland in stores for 10 1/2 years prior to going to massage school. I always get from Target, Walmart, etc saying I don't meet their qualifications however I did the same exact job functions at Disneyland in a much higher fast-paced environment. So I am not sure if It is because I am possibly overqualified or if it is an age thing?
It would be my pleasure to accept your request. No intrusion..so don't apologize. I just added my profile to Massage & Bodywork and would like to network with professionals wihtin the site. Thank you for the request.
