Yes, I did travel and work that winter. I spent 3 months at a small hotel on the southern coast of Mexico. I didn't get rich but I did pay for my trip and came home with a little money in my pocket!
My strategy was to Google "yoga retreat centers" all over the world. I also searched for small B&B's, meditation, holistic and nutritional healing places, places that I felt I would like to be a part of and in locations that I wanted to visit. There are a lot of jobs available in the cruise ship and club med industry but I am not a glitzy, cater-to-the-rich, kind of girl!
I started sending out resumes and cover letters all over the world in about October. Quite a few people replied, some did not. Most already had an MT but expressed future intrest. For me, I really just needed one to come back that felt right and it did!
I highly reccommend going for it! Diligence and persistance are your best allies! Just keep at it and don't get discouraged! Also, keep a list of who you contact, their website, email, etc and keep a little record of who repiles and with what kind of reply. I found early on that I was forgetting who I contacted and who I hadn't!
Oh, there were also a few Craigslist offers in Costa Rica and I think Jamaica...
Keep your search broad and creative!
Best of luck to you and if I can be of further help just let me know!
Hi Geoff - that's for your answer regarding prenatal massage. I'd love to catch up with you next time I'm up your way. I love your business concept! I'm a Yoga (RYT200) and Zumba instructor working on my group fitness instructor certification through ACE. I eventually plan on getting into Personal Training.
Thank you for the add. It is definitely taking some getting used to. I owned a business in IL & now I'm primarily an employee. Excited to help these people grow their businesses, but excited to start my own again at some point :)
