Just added a comment in the animal massage group in response to your question. Not sure if you automatically get notified of the continued thread?

    Hi Martha,

Colorado is VERY confused still about massage and animals. Right now the law states that in order for a massage therapist to work on animals they must be under the supervision of a vet. So.....what does that mean? There is a lot of question about whether that means the vet says it's okay or whether they have to be in the same room with you. Just to be safe I do contact the animals vet and let them know what I am doing. Most have acted like "why are you calling me....but okay." They don't know the law either. The ones who are politically active have given me a little trouble. The vet I take my dogs to is all for massage. I did most of my practical work to complete the program at a shelter where there was an onsite vet who loved what I was doing. It is such great work but it's been a little slow getting it going just like anything else. Good luck with your work. This is such a great site to allow us to share info.
