I have a client that each time I massage her she gets sick and very sore. She has incredible stiffness in the upper lateral and anterior  neck area. She had mono 6 months ago. Could I possibly be releasing some of that virus from those glands and lymph? If so, what can we do for her neck aches and headaches?

No, the mono is probably not there again. But the fact that she has had mono, says that she does have a very compromised immune system and is susceptible to illness. Her immune system may not have recovered 100% since the mono situation. Massage actually collapses the lymph nodes due to pressure for a short period of time after treatment. It also creates some acidity due to micro tears of the muscle fibers. During that time, the lymphatics have to work a little extra harder just to pump lymph fluid. Hers is weak, which is maybe why she gets sick. I would suggest to her to see a Manual Lymphatic Drainage Specialist instead of massage for a while, and see someone in the nutrition or naturopathy world to boost her immune system until she gets it back on track.
