Esalen Institute in Big Sur, CA offers some live-in weekend courses in basic massage touch. And the place is magical!
So far I massaged my mom and an old friend of mine few times, so my feels are statically insignificant. I have science background and is a introvert. I don't even like people. It would be ironic if I have talent for massge or any other kind of healing ability.
It seems that my hand can sense where problem areas are in the body before people tell me. Also if I put too much stress on my mom or my friend's body, my own body can feel the stress as well. It seems my own body become synchronized with other people's body. I don't just know but I can feel how they feel. I am not sure how to explain it. Any body have similar experience, or heard about it?
I recommend you try a lomi lomi session with Ho'oponopono yourself. Also talk with these people.

Aloha Kaua,
DanI don't mean to discourage you from massage. However, to say that you are an introvert and don't even like people, I can't see massage being for you. You could have a wonderful touch, but one of the fundamentals of massage is your interaction with the client. It's easy to interact comfortably with someone you know and love. but to do that to someone you've only met at that very moment, is a whole other thing. To do that, it takes more than just manual skill, but also a compassion towards others and the ability to help someone feel completely at ease. If you are not a people person I can't see how you would be able to be successful in massage.
Many schools offer an introductory workshop to see if its for you. I would highly recommend you attend one in your area so you can see for yourself if it's for you.

Perhaps.
I think it's important that he goes to a workshop before committing time and money to a profession.

I am currently looking for 1 day class on the Big Island. I may travel to Honolulu, New Zealand or Australia so I will look there too. If I do have the talent then I am willing taking full credential course. I am pretty happy with just being able to massage my family, even though I am not planning on being a licensed massage therapist.
Very interesting. when I was in high school I thought about going into pre-med then go to medical school. I decided medical school was a bad idea because I don't like people. I went into computer science, thinking that I will never deal with medical field again. Somehow I graduated with Medical Electronic A.S. degree. I am trained to work on hospital machine, like EEG, EKG, blood pressure monitor, etc. I know human biology. I thought I will work mostly with machine but not people. Now I find out I may have a massage talent. It seems like I always come back to medical field and people even though I am trying to leave them. It is so funny and weird.
I like to take class because if I have a talent for massage then taking class will help me understand my talents better. And make me a better massage therapist for my family. If my family is in pain then I hope I can ease their pain. I hate the feeling that there is nothing I can do.
Right now I can feel the things during massage but sometimes it is difficult for me to interpreted what I feel and I don't understand why I massage some areas but not other. I am hoping that a massage class can help me understand my intuitive feels. I like to know my full potential. An old man tell me to explore and learn as many things as I can while I am still young because I will never know what skills may come in handy when I get old.
I can respect your reasoning.
For me, it would be financially impossible to take up an education on a profession that i wasn't going to pursue so that's why I had to make sure massage was for me.
