A client today was unsatisfied and she wouldn’t give the manager a reason. Can’t please them all. Maybe it’s bc I am altering my massage a bit bc of my wrist (I hyper extend and am adjusting my body mechanics) but if anything, I felt I worked more mindfully and intentionally bc of it. I put in my best but maybe the flow wasn’t as good bc it is an adjustment? Or maybe it was bc she was here 15-20 mins early and I arrived to the spa 10 mins early and she saw me enter and had to wait til it was 5p (her appointment time) idk could be anything! There’s also a hot towel protocol the spa asks us to do at the end of a massage for the feet but I used it for her focus area instead. She also had a lot of hair and asked me for a hair tie which I didn’t have but I told her I could work around her hair. At one point a stroke got caught on her hair and I apogized and she said it’s okay. She seemed content and was smiling while she was supine. She’s also a smaller frame and petite and I generally do my best work (at least get my best feedback with medium-build bodies.) I usually ask if they want full body with more time on their focus area but neglected to ask this time so maybe she wanted most of the time on her focus area? She tipped me 3$ Any advice on how to avoid this in the future? Ive worked for someone else for three years now at 3 different spas. I am also a sign language interpreter full time (started this year)

This is a very hard job.  It hurts when you do your best, and the client is not happy with your work.  There have been days over the years that I left the spa depressed, doubting myself.

I can tell that you care about your work.  That’s what counts.

But tomorrow is another day.  Keep doing your best everyday.

Thank you that helps! It just happens and maybe I shouldn’t get so excited when they really like my work because then I won’t get so down in those more rare times when they don’t.

Exactly!
