What is your sun sign? how do you think this effects your practice if at all?
I am a Libra, I just started my practice so I can't really tell yet
I am just curious what people think about it- I am really big into Astrology and birth charts so it fascinates me to see what others think about it. Or if they do

Just for fun. I am told I am a crossover. Between Libra and Virgo! I feel I have been successful in every effort, I've attempted. A friend had me throw three nickels one night and I threw tails on all three, five consecutive times. Each time he grew more amazed. He checked in a book and said he had never met the description of who is represented. He said I was a Creator. He handed me the book to read the explanation. It said that no matter what I decided to create, it would succeed. I was surprised how close the book corresponded to my life. He wrote my name in the book. It was a nice evening! My friend has since passed and I think of him often and I wish I could find that book again.
Hi, I'm Aquarium, freedom and inteligent (lol). Like an aquarium am deterinated and passionate, so that help me for be who am I today, I'm a healer for nature, really intuitive and I reached everything I want and I intend. But sometimes I'm like a wheel, I change myself, and pass to the, air step, then fire step, later water step, then earth step, light step or dark stept, (lol) I understad myself jeje.
Maybe it's better shhh!
Blessed Be!
iam a cancer. i am also interested in astrology and believe it intertwines with our lives every moment. My moon sign is a scorpio. With two water signs, it makes me for intuitive and responsive to emotions; mine as well as my clients.
i am still in school, but have had my share of cliental. I think i have a more nurturing care for them which comes from my Cancer characteristics. my emotions sometimes get the best of me, but when i massage it changes to being about me, to just my attention on the client and i just free my mind to my hands meant for healing and if the client is well.
I am a Leo with 5 planets in Leo in my 9th house , Sag Rising and Libra Moon!
Yes I feel astrology plays a huge role in our lives and we interact with others, career etc.

I have been in the healing arts for almost 25 years and 20 of those an educator. with 5 planets in leo I am no doubt passionate about education (and travel, my other love).

As a worker/employee with Virgo on the 10th , I am "on it, organized and motivated". People love me working for them! I take care of their business better than my own.

I have had a woman in Egypt once read my chart and advised me I was one of the most spiritually advanced Leo's she had met. It might explain why I have felt I have not fit the 'typical' explanations of a leo.

I also use astrology to see how I can better relate with my students , it helps tremendously!

Fascinating , Yes!
Hey guys, Click here to see the researcher is shocked and threatened with our interest or belie.... Hide the books!!!
Wow Chris. That seems a little bit of a stretch to correlate a thread or two about astrology as "prevalence of pseudoscience in MT community". Just because one is an MT doesn't negate them being interested in OTHER things besides science based massage topics.

I love astrology. It doesn't mean I preach the word to my clients, any more than a christian MT preaches religion to their clients. we CAN wear different hats for different aspects in our lives.

And then you wonder why attitudes are prevalent when you post up something like that? you don't even post up a thought or opinion...other than to point the finger back to here as mockery. Shame on you. Must you antagonize just to spark conversation and debate?

Anyhoo....I'm a Libra. And I love this guy's site for astrological readings (www.cainer.com). I have found, albeit very unscientifically, that he has a 90% track record being on target to what is going on in my life at any particular time. not so much in a fortune telling way, but rather a general sense of life experience going on at any given time. and his description of Libran characteristics seems to be pretty on target to who I am. check him out.
Hi Lisa.

Wow Chris. That seems a little bit of a stretch to correlate a thread or two about astrology as "prevalence of pseudoscience in MT community". Just because one is an MT doesn't negate them being interested in OTHER things besides science based massage topics.

It's not a stretch at all. The thread on the other site is about pseudoscience in MT. Astrology is pseudoscience. This is a website dedicated to MT, and this is a thread in which people are already discussing how astrology impacts their work and their relations with students. It's very topical.

And then you wonder why attitudes are prevalent when you post up something like that? you don't even post up a thought or opinion...

Right - just the link, no thought or opinion added.

other than to point the finger back to here as mockery.

How do you know that is my intent? (It isn't, by the way.) As you note, I didn't say anything at all.

Shame on you. Must you antagonize just to spark conversation and debate?

Nothing to be ashamed of. I posted a link from a public forum to a public forum. I haven't antagonized anyone. Nor do I intend to impose myself further on this thread.

Please feel free to read the "pseudoscience" thread on the other site, and to jump in - it has had some good exchanges.

It's not a stretch at all. The thread on the other site is about pseudoscience in MT. Astrology is pseudoscience. This is a website dedicated to MT, and this is a thread in which people are already discussing how astrology impacts their work and their relations with students. It's very topical.

Chris...I belong on a mountain bike site. Sometimes there are discussions about road riding. Just because a message board is based on one subject matter doesn't mean we can't discuss OTHER things without it being a direct relation to the fundamentals of the one subject. and to say that a handful of people equates to "people already discussing how astrology impacts their work...." IS a stretch. When I start seeing 4400 "people" discussing how they use astrology in their practice, then it will become more topical for me.

How do you know that is my intent? (It isn't, by the way.) As you note, I didn't say anything at all.

sometimes by not stating an opinion you state one. but you know this...and that is why you do it. let's not play "dumb" now. If you're intent was not to point a finger to it in mockery, why post it at all then? why not just bring up the subject at hand stating "so i read this and it got me thinking..." and then discuss your viewpoint?

Thanks for the invite to read the pseudoscience thread, but it's not my "thing". i believe there is more to life than just what we can prove. and unlike you, I don't feel the need to go on a site of like minded thinkers, opposite of mine, simply to instigate heated debate or "prove my point". I'm quite happy with the world as it is...many people with many thoughts and ideas.

Of course.

and to say that a handful of people equates to "people already discussing how astrology impacts their work...." IS a stretch.

I'm not stretching anything. I barely even said anything. It's a fact that some folks on this thread are discussing how astrology relates to MT.

As a sidenote, that's interesting to me. I have an interest in beliefs, how people acquire them, and how people maintain them.

let's not play "dumb" now. If you're intent was not to point a finger to it in mockery, why post it at all then?

I already stated clearly why I posted what I posted, where I posted it. It is relevant to the topic of pseudoscience in MT.

Thanks for the invite to read the pseudoscience thread, but it's not my "thing". i believe there is more to life than just what we can prove.

I most definitely agree.

and unlike you, I don't feel the need to go on a site of like minded thinkers,

Maybe you should have a closer look at that site and those threads - there's quite a lot of thinking that is not alike!
I was thinking about this thread a little more and it occurred to me that I might be nudge it back to its intended topic if I were to answer the questions originally posted by Denea.

What is your sun sign? I was born Oct 12, so I believe that makes me a Libra in the predominant form of astrology.

Some of you might get a kick out of knowing that my maternal grandmother was very interested in astrology, so much so that she did charts for people and even received payment for this. I'm pretty sure the local newspaper did a feature or two on her predictions, so she was quite well known for this locally. I was pretty close to her and found this fascinating when I was very little, but not long after I became quite skeptical about it. I never discussed my skepticism about it with her, though, at least not that I can remember.

how do you think this effects your practice if at all? Personally, I doubt very much that it has any effect on my life whatsoever.

Denea, my apologies if posting the link to this discussion on the http://mtevidence.ning.com/ site interrupted it, even indirectly.
Cute site, Lisa! Thanks for sharing!
