The New Orleans Saints??

WRONG!

Try again!

The advertisers won the game!

Where I was yesterday watching the game, our local pub, there was just as much hooting and hollering about the commercials as there was in regards to the big plays in the big game.

How does this fit into your massage business??

Obviously we don't have million dollar advertising budgets like those name-brand companies do.

We don't need 'm.

Think of the theory behind the advertisements you saw yesterday.

What was it that really caught your attention?

Originality and Creativity.

The bull and the Bud horses.

Doritos chips being used as ninja throwing stars.

Etc., etc.

This is what YOU need to do, right now, with your massage business.

"Would you like to receive a massage today?"

"Would you like a relaxing massage?"

Wow. That's about as exciting as watching paint dry.

Kick it up a notch like this!

“If I Could Show You How To Relieve Chronic Lower Back Pain In 15 Minutes Or Less, Would You Be Interested In Knowing More About It?”

“If I Could Show You How To Relieve Chronic Migraine Headache Pain In 15 Minutes Or Less, You’d Be Interested In Knowing More About It, Wouldn’t You?”

“Give me 30 minutes. If you feel that this isn’t the most relaxing, stress-free half-hour of your entire week, your session is free!”

Can you see the difference?

It’s much more powerful than asking, “Would you like a relaxing massage?”

Now, go put something together like the examples mentioned above!

Thank you Kris for being so willing to share your expertise.
Thanks Darcy!
I agree, but would like to interject a few comments. First, I did not appreciate the one commmercial's reference to massage with the therapist in high-heels and ripping off her shirt. It was not needed. Yes the company has shown many occupations and doing the same, but it did not help us.

And so far as the million dollar ads. I sure would have liked for AMTA to spend millions on commercials, rather than having lost it dealing with the stock market. Every year, they could just take out enough to cover one great commercial when you have a captive audience of 150 billion people world-wide. Sounds do-able to me!!!

Another way, between ABMP (70,000) and AMTA (52,000) it would cost each less than $9.00 each. I'm in. It needs to be professional. I think an intelligent, well put together commercial would stand out, as all the others strived to be the zaniest. At least it would to the folks we are trying to get on the table. At Super Bowl 45, it would be great to be front and center. And I think we should thank all our customers we've had, through all the years, on National TV too! That would be nice!

Just some thoughts. Thanks for starting this thread, Kris! Keep 'um thinkin'!!!

Hey Mike!

Yes, when I saw the GoDaddy commercial I just hung my head down. My girlfriend asked me what was wrong, as she was talking to some friends of ours and didn't see the commercial. I explained the commercial just made our life (as MTs) much more difficult.

Reminded me of a couple of months ago with I flipped on the tube a caught some broadcast of the guy who was video-taping his clients. Ugh...

On a positive note...

I like your ideas about the advertising and national associations!

Kris
We will bring it up at this year's symposium and get feedback.

Hi Terry!

Yes, I agree with Mike as well!

I'm almost all word of mouth as well for new clients...most of the year I don't take new clients as I'm busy enough.

The gist of the post was in regards to if one is using marketing and advertising to generate new clients, use some creativity and originality!

Get people asking about you and your business. Put a new twist on it!

I've some posts somewhere here in regards to writing headlines that get people to ask questions, and not just 'yes or no' answers.

A guy was video-taping his clients? Well, guess what: I had a client that was video-taping me massaging him!

He never asked to do anything inappropriate, even to be undraped during the massage. But while I was doing the massage, I saw a little red light hidden between clothes, over the night stand. Seemed so weird to me and then I ask: "what is that"? And when I was going to see it closer, he stand up quickly saying "its nothing!" trying to stop me. Then I knew he was recording and I didn't like that, even if I wasn't doing anything inappropriate or illegal. Because I don't think its ok to video-tape people without its knowledge. What if that guy edit that video and do something bad about it and then post it on the internet? You never know! so he had to give me that tape and then I threw it away!

Ugh!!
