Banking and Merchant Services

So I've been doing a lot of research ninto small business banking and merchant services and I'm starting to get quite annoyed. Any one have any tips of exactly what I should be looking for; what good programs might be good to get for a small business; or just things to watch out for so I don't make the same mistake you might have? ;)

It seems like you can't get any information without talking to some of these bankers or merchant service people directly and then they always expect you to sign up immediately...like they just told you the best most amazing thing in the world and no one could offer you any thing better.
