What is the most sought after CE course that is hardly given? I hear people complain all the time that there arent any good classes around or there isnt anything new on the market. So I would like to hear what would you like to see as a course
In addition to being a CE provider myself, I invite 12-15 teachers a year to teach at my facility. Our most popular class for the past few years has been Indian Head Massage, which usually sells out very early. I try to mix it up every year and get different instructors and different classes. This year I'm having Howard Weingarten teach Orthopedic Massage, which is almost filled, and a class in Traditional Chinese Medicine that is also selling out. Oncology massage registration is going well, also.
The Ethics classes I teach are well attended--but that may be because it's required ;) My marketing classes are also well attended, and that is probably based on my being an author on the subject.
When I am personally looking for classes to take, I take a lot of Ethics classes because I teach it and write on the subject and I don't think I can ever get too much education in that area. Last year I took Kinesio Taping and a refresher class in Shoulder Techniques, and a couple of research classes. I always get more hours than I need because I love learning new things.
The folks you hear complaining must not be looking. I can easily find hundreds of CE courses, including dozens of courses available in my area throughout the year. Here's an internet bodywork forum with info about tons of different CE courses: http://bodyworkonline.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=17&sid=3a8c3324...
I will say this in defense of the people that I know. In the state that we live in, if it isnt state approved the state doesn't count it towards your CE credits. Most of the ones that are state approved are atleast 2 hours away (most of the time). Yes, they can be in other states but that is part of the problem (traveling expenses). At the same time, it may not be be things that are interested in either, including the courses that are within that 2 hour radius.
At the World Massage Festival this year there were many great introductory classes presented that are normally not readily available. go to: www.worldmassagefestival.com. I believe next year they will have the same opportunity available to the therapists. 3 hour introductory classes to see if that is something the therapists might like to invest their time and money into.
hey laura it is good to know that you are providing these classes and I must say that, those people, who are confused about any such classes will definitely get benefits of this.
I am somewhere into joining these classes coz I feel that too can able to help other, by making them learn some techniques.
