I have an interesting question. Recently I agreed to help out a fellow MT but recent turn in events she actually is turning on me. This MT has been super chummy with the head of one of my professional groups I belong to. She's trying to get into the group to promote herself and business. Granted there is no exclusivity it's just an unspoken rule that you see me for a massage or this other girl Nancy, not the newbie in the networking circuit. I'm not sure how to handle this. I lend a hand to a fellow MT in trouble and now why being friend, mentor and voice of reason has come around and bit me :( What is a good to do?

Do I just renew with the chamber and do my thing hopefully that my skills will glide me throuh

Do I say something

Do I just watch and see how things are being done.

or do I just find another group that offers the exclusivity?

Let it go. You helped someone and they ran with it. Keep on going with what you have been doing. If your time allows add on another group. There is no real exclusivity anywhere. It can always fall apart. So go on with the knowledge you helped someone out and continue to do your best.

Yeah it's not worth my time. I know what I can offer that they can't so I know my business is not going to suffer if they join the group. Most therapists join a networking group and are gone by 3 months anyways. So let her play with the big dogs and get bit, it's all good.

If you expect exclusivity, then make that an explicit part of the membership agreement or relationship. If you are the only one expecting it, no wonder you feel like you got bit

And don't dismiss a newbie for not being a big dog. You did not start out as a big dog.

What was the line by Mr. Potter's manager in It's A Wonderful Life "before you know it, this bright young man will be asking George Bailey for a job!"

I wouldn't let anyone push me out of a networking circle or professional chapter.

Just let it ride Stephanie but you know what to do the next time she comes looking for something.
