massage and bodywork professionals

a community of practitioners

I am about to finish my first two weeks in Massage Therapy School. We have touched on just a few modalities along with some Proff. Ed. information. My Acupressure class has me scratching me head tho. Only to the point of being a modality I will be using when I graduate. Maybe as we get more into the acupressure areas I will be more comfortable with this type of therapy.

We practiced our "draping" yesterday and that was an adventure for sure. We have a great instructor and she is so very patient. LOL.... She makes it look so effortless. Practice makes perfect for sure!!!!

Looking forward to getting more into our anatomy class! The amazing human body!!

Congrats Bob!  You have started a great adventure with this work!  The human body is amazing and the more I learn the more amazed I am.

My wish for you is that you keep up your enthusiasm and wonder.  I've been doing this for 5 years and I'm still amazed every day.  It's good work!

Hi Bob,
There are several ways of doing acupressure massage, including Shiatsu. You can find many interesting videos on Youtube, such as this guy:

The ones from Japan are better than those from Europe or USA, in my opinion. I have been doing Shiatsu since 1971, but have not received very many great treatments. It does take focus, concentration. But when it's done right, it is unsurpassed for deep down relaxation. You can accomplish more with this method, I feel, because you are not sliding off the points due to oil. The only thing it lacks is effleurage, but see how this fellow manages to add some at the beginning.
Good luck in your studies and career.

Seems you are enjoying your work. Great Job. Best of Luck.
