I took the Daybreak level 1 class and will be taking the level 2 in nov. It was definitely worth it
I have been voluteering at a couple of retirement houses for 18 months. I started last nov. charging for 1/2 hour massages at 3 places. I have always enjoyed being with the seniors.
I have checked into taking a course w/ Daybreak. I just have been waiting for the right place and time. I beleive this will help me out with marketing and answer some questions I have.
What is Daybreak? I haven't heard of this, but I, too, would like a workshop for working with seniors.

Ck out Modalities for Massage and Bodywork (Ed. Stillerman published by Mosby/Elsevier).

I wrote the chapter on Geriatric massage (Chapter 5).

Lots of great material - all referenced.

DayBreak and Comfort Touch are featured (these are currently the two most popular workshops).
Daybreak Geritric Massage, you can check them out on the web. They offer workshops all over. I may be attending one at the end of this month in Mi.
It will be a last minute plan, but I have planned on doing this for well over 1 1/2 years. I even started to host one up here in northern Mi. we didnot get enough people to sign up,so it didn't happen.

I have taken Level I of the Day-Break Geriatric Massage Institute certification workshop and will be taking Level II in Sept. The first level of this workshop focused on the specific senior modality for working with the robust to frail senior client, positioning on massage table, cautions and contraindications and marketing just to give a brief overview. The second level will cover more advanced positioning in wheelchairs, hospital beds and working in an Assisted Living Facility or Nursing Home. I encourage you and highly recommend attending the Day-Break program to learn how to properly and safely massage seniors. I am glad that I made the investment and is looking forward to going to the next level of training.
