I want to get a bit more healthy. I have tried different eating practices but would always be light headed especially trying to massage.. hopefully someone knows of a healthy yet filling way to become more healthy without passing out.
There is not alot of time for exercise, I work about 1-3 days with a chiro or in a spa, I teach massage in the evening and I have 4 children.....
basically trying to not pass out...
Thanks in advance

Are you trying to lose weight or just eat/be healthier? Are you anemic? I am slightly anemic so I get tired often. I try to take a multi-vitamin w/iron. Also, eating more protien w/every meal helps stave off being hungry, big time. There are lots of non-meat options available that are also fast to make. Here's what I do:

On most days I get up and do some exercise at home or walk for 30 minutes (PBS has exercise shows on everyday at 6:30 a.m., or I use a DVD). I eat yogurt w/fruit & walnuts, or make a large batch of steel-cut oats and quinoa w/fruit and walnuts so I can microwave it for several days. For lunch a salad or tuna sandwich, For dinner veggies and some usually chicken or fish. Try to stay away from too much carbs. They'll give you a boost then make you tired and hungry. I love pasta and sauce. To cut down on the pasta I make a pasta primavera with lots of veggies, a little pasta and cover it w/sauce. It's easy and makes a lot so I have leftovers that freeze well. I often take it for lunch the next day. Adding some chicken or meatballs gives it some protien. Hope this helps.
Sounds like you have a very busy schedule. Do you make time for yourself to relax. Make sure you get some protein in your body? Are you hypoglycemic? I would suggest finding a nutritionist in your area and speaking to them so you don't start trying a whole bunch of different things that may or may not work for you. Everyone is different and has different needs.
Thank you Gloria I will!!

Kathy Jo,
I want to lose weight but not become crazily obsessed with weight loss. I want to be the best healthy me I can. I will look into your suggestions thank you.

The first thought that comes to mind reading this is if the environment you are in is too warm. I keep my room at a constant 70 for the clients comfort but I have fans running for circulation (and white noise) for myself.

I eat several times a day, usually small snack type items that might include almonds, granola, hard boiled eggs, cheese, etc. I don't do well on a full stomach, and cannot do well on an empty one. I use protein smoothies as well and can recommend some if you would like. I too, am border line anemic and need to be careful. I also found that part of what can make you feel light headed is the lack of supplements a person can take. I have also gone a different route with that and use supplements that are mostly isotonic so they are absorbed into your system at up to a 90-98% absorption rate. Taking these, my husband and I both have noticed an increase in energy, stamina, overall health, and we both have noticed that our pants are fitting a bit more loosely, which wasn't part of our plan but we like!

Do not starve yourself as it wreaks havoc on your metabolism and other areas. To really get to the bottom of anything that could be going on, or if you are deficient in an areas, I would suggest a naturopath. I could go and on about that as well as I have had excellent results with them as opposed to western medicine doctors. Of course, the western medicine doctors have their place too.

Sorry for the rambling......
Ok, first of all - lay off fad diets! I'm assuming a cleanse is in the works. The key to losing weight is eat right and exercise. The other ideas out there are going to wreak havoc on your health in the long run. I'm not only a massage therapist, I'm 1 test away from being a naturopath. And I have battled with my weight for most of my life. The fads make it worse - not only do you gain it all back and then some, but you also cause damage to hormone production and balance, kidney function, liver function, ...etc. I have 3 children, I work full time as a massage therapist between 4 locations, I'm studying holistic nutrition and finishing a degree in natural medicine, and I teach my kids at home. I understand lack of time. But, we are responsible for being good examples to our clients. They look to us for advice on nutrition, health, surgery... yes it is beyond our scope of practice, and no we are not medical doctors. But, we are their examples anyway.
I have a program that I have been using with great success - advertised nationally as Slim in 6 - during the first 3 weeks I lost about 3.5 inches from my hips, by the end of te 6 weeks, I lost 6 inches from my hips - not to mention 5 from waist, and 3 from thighs. That was during the holidays and I did not deprive myself! After 3 weeks, Clients were asking what I was doing and how do I get it? So now I'm an independant distributor/coach for Beachbody International. We have awesome workout programs for every fitness level and taste, as well as a tracking website where you login your workout and get entered into a daily drawing for $1000 and other daily prizes (talk about motivation). Also, if you become a member on this site you can access meal planning for your needs, fitness tests, BMI calculator, and many other things to help you with your journey - you can also get workout buddies here. I told you tat I have battled with my weight my whole life - I've tried everything - take it from me, this is the most effective program out there. It is this company's goal to end obesity in america - it isn't about money. It's a mission. Oh, and we have 10 minute trainer - give tony horton 10 minutes a day, and he'll give you the body you want. go to www.beachbodycoach.com/achesaway or email me emma@achesawaymt.com
Hi!
I went through the same experience.
Then, 10-12 years ago I started taking 12-14 days off a year to do supervised cleanse at my friend’s place in Canada (he’s a naturopath). I’ve been doing this every year until last year. I tried inviting my friends to join me, and only two joined me. All others had reservations: money, children, work, language barrier issues, no food consumption for 12 days, colonics, etc. And I understand them. So, I did the next best thing I could do to help them 5 years later(because I didn’t know I could)... I made some of the products I took during the cleanse available to them because I got tired of hearing them complain about being sick, in pain, and tired. And, no, my friend doesn’t make these products. He orders them like I do, and if you choose, you can too now.

So, in my mind, I could at least offer an easy solution so they could do a mini cleanse from their home and feel better- then, I would feel better. I only did this to help my family & friends. I only have one intention - to help(share/coach/educate) those willing to help themselves.

I’m also a lic. Colon Hydrotherapist and the importance of cleansing should be a priority on everyone’s to do list. You cannot assimilate your food if your body(colon) is full of waste (fecal matter), mucous, parasites, etc.You cannot assimilate your food and supplements, if your supplements don’t dissolve and if the spaces between the villi in your small intestine are clogged and or full of mucous. You cannot digest your foods if your diet is void of enzymes, probiotics, etc. AND our foods are “empty”, this eventually leads us to crave all kinds of junk food because our body lacks nutrition(my personal observation). The industry knows this and they spend tons of money doing R & D to satisfy our cravings and pump us full of antibiotics, etc. when we get sick.

Therefore, we naturally over eat because we don’t digest and assimilate the foods we eat and because our produce is void of nutrition, etc. You can read “The Empty Harvest” by Dr. Bernard Jensen and you will understand more what I am talking about. Nonetheless, I can send you information, if you choose to know more about these products (and I empower you to research and learn more), so that you can make an educated decision with any, and all products you come across.

I believe we should hurry up and relax. Don’t change everything at once, it’s too much, and too much is like not enough, correct?
The recipe is:

Cleanse with non addicting, natural, mild and effective products(many are too strong and addictive to your colon-do your research, be careful).

Get a colon irrigation by a professional (the benefits out weigh the discomfort-if any)

Get a massage

Take your time, “hurry up and relax”

Rebuild... And decide to eliminate one not so good product from your diet like high fructose corn syrup.

Stay away from soy and whey protein shakes.

Drink more water

Move, as you already know, the human body is designed to move, happily.

Compliment yourself-a lot.

You’re free to use whatever product you choose, and I empower you to take a look at these products, I researched many for my own personal, family, and friends use. Don't be afraid to Take Care of Yourself...
