This is definitely very embarrassing, but I do need a resolution to this matter. I have discovered that when I am giving massages, about half way through the session, I tend to pass gas...not fun when I have 90 min. sessions. Fortunately, the clients have been very understanding about it, and I've been able to have a good sense of humor about it. However, it's still embarrassing.
I exercise a lot, and drink plenty of water. Is there anything I can do to remain relaxed through the session and to avoid this embarrassing occurrence? I do go to the bathroom right before I start my session.
Thank you!

Aloha Rachel,
I also used to frequently pass gas, and yes, I too felt embarrassed. When I quit eating food with gluten in it - especially anything with wheat flour - this problem immediately ceased.
I was not aware of having a gluten allergy or intollerance. A few years ago I just tried temporarily eliminating gluten for a week on a whim to see what it would be like. I am of course delighted with the results. I occasionally allow myself to eat something with gluten in it. Sometimes I pay for it with cramps in my abdomen, and more gas...

Other things to try are probiotics and digestive enzymes. I have tried a probiotic that produces immediate results. These include reducing or eliminating gas. Tonix Coconut Water with Kefir http://www.mytonix.com/Coconut_Water_Kefir.html comes in a 16 oz bottle and only 2 oz. per day brings dramatic change for myself and many of my clients.
Sometimes it is simply enough to switch to older style (heirloom) wheats like spelt. THese have not been commercially bred to contain more gluten in relation to the protein of the wheat grain. So what will we become intolerant to as the genetics of our foods and medicinals are manipulated by Genetic Modification? If you are in California please support labeling of GMOs to be decided on the 2012 ballot because our legislature would not discuss it. http://organicconsumersfund.org/label/.
Unfortunately the Hawaiian legislature capitulated to Monsanto http://www.naturalnews.com/035657_Hawaii_GMOs_food_labeling.html
