massage and bodywork professionals

a community of practitioners

Although David closed the discussion, there was an interesting point that I think should be expanded.

This was said:

How about offering a free 10 min to each beautician that refers you a client, they could build their mins to 30 or an hr.  or could you have them package w you when the client books the appt.  i/e - client calls for a hair cut , have co-worker say "would you like to book a massage before or after your hair cut? we have a MT that is running a special for $30. "  Power of suggestion is a wonderful thing, customer might say not me but I will for my wife, husband ect.  The 10 min free for the co worker would still work too. Good Luck its hard but keep the faith it will work out.

Dear Helen,

Thank you for the idea, but I already working on them for free daily.  As I posted last night the salon owner let me go after only 7 weeks of working there. Please read my post from yesterday I explain it all there.

Thanks again

David

Helen I think you have a good point about the power of suggestion and other professions in a single location helping sell each other.

Yup the Massage chair is right in front of the counter, but we offer free 10min chair massage.  Thank you to both Daniel and Dayna
Offering free service, in my opinion devalues what you do. Why would someone pay if there is free available? At the venue David describes it seems that free chair massage makes it look like a come on for the hair styling rather than a professional service. I also wonder how many more free massages the stylists received compared to the hair trims David got. If they could get it free anytime it also cheapens the service if it was not exchanged.
Be careful not to downgrade the apparent value of what you do. Tie free or discounted samples to business. Don't make it so easy to be regarded as a cheap throw away.
