National Certification

Hi! I'm an LMT in Abilene and my husband is military and I'm sure we will be relocating soon so I'm wondering if anyone knows the best way for me to become nationally certified locally? I can't commute to a larger city and I'm curious if anyone knows if I'm able to take online courses and then go to Austin for testing or do I have to go to school all over again? Please help! Thanks!

Once you're nationally certified through the NCBTMB, you shouldn't have to retest or become re-certified. The biggest thing is contacting your new state to make sure your current academic hours meet their standards. It's pretty easy, I did it recently as I'm looking to move out of state. If I remember correctly, I contacted the state's board of nursing. Even if they don't govern MTs in your new state, they should be able to help you get to the right department.

Remember too that the National Certification doesn't allow you to legally practice in any state. You still need to get any applicable state licenses, some of them use the National Certification test as part of their criteria, but most will also accept the MBLEx test. Hello Anna, I'm in the Brownwood area and looking for the same thing. I can't commute to Austin or San Antonio and there aren't any schools here. Fancy's day spa in Brownwood, is supposedly opening up a massage school but I'm not sure when exactly. My husband and I are thinking of moving abroad but that idea is still up in the air. How is business going for you so far?
