Project for Open Education in Massage going live today!

Just wanted to let you know that this new site has been created as a resource for educators, students and other stakeholders in the profession and it's main objectives are as follows (from the site)....:

• provide a central, universally-accessible repository for existing knowledge about evidence-based biopsychosocial massage;
• provide semantically-integrated tools and views on knowledge about massage and other foundational domains that stakeholders in the community can use for learning and teaching purposes;
• promote communication and build bridges with other healthcare professional disciplines in order to help the patient-centered care team work together more effectively;
• generate new information from the mashup of different existing bits of knowledge;
• provide a sense of pride and accomplishment in members of the community at the cumulative body of evidence-based massage knowledge; and
• provide a safe and empowering place for discussion of and learning about biopsychosocial massage.

I hope this provides a useful resource for addressing your educational and information needs, and I look forward to hearing from you.

The site has a number of different areas where input is welcomed - some have input that is moderated first and some are not (for example, all comments are accepted immediately - although you should also be aware of POEM policies).

For example, there is a journal club, which examines a new article every month.

A wiki, for people to add information on massage

A place for Research Article Analysis

A educational information area - where teachers can share class information

A place for users to put links to educational sites

A place to upload and discuss case studies/reports

A place for CE providers to put a link to their site(to keep advertising to a minimum)

Raven's blog(the owner of the site), in which she covers many aspects of massage and welcomes all comments

A place for people to natter about anything they want (hopefully related to massage therapy).

And a place for eBooks- some of which will be coming at some stage in the future.

If you visit the site, you will see that this is a valuable resource that I hope we will use to our advantage.
