Questions about Choosing a Massage School

Hello Future LMT or Graduate

I would love to know what you look for when searching for a massage school? I shortened the amount of questions too, so I am hoping some LMT's might respond. Thanks!

What attracts you to read their website?

What convinced you to sign up for their program?

What questions do you ask recruiting staff?

Why did you choose your massage school??

Wow. Ten questions all at once. Don't know how many will answer all of them. But I will try.

I chose my school by typing in Florida and massage school.

They didn't have a website just a site location for the school.

I signed up because they said I could start the next day.

I was a walk-in and knew I wanted to get my license. No questions.

Instructors experience

I never considered it.

I wish there had been more eastern classes

I would have them find actual practitioners than videos but yeah I like hearing different views.

They said sign here and they took my check.

It was the closest one and I that is all I wanted. The way I saw it, the material was in the book. It was all that separated me from licensure and it was up to me not the school, instructors or anyone but me. I was very successful.

Gee Wiz Gloria, that's a lot of questions! I've been out for some time, but I will happily contribute one thing that drew me to my massage school. They had an open house several times a year that you could attend. The instructors, director, and a lot of students were all in attendance. It was literally completely open to questioning and scrutiny. I liked that I was able to meet everyone before I was actually required to interact with them. Sometimes people just don't mesh and that can make for an awful experience.

My answers may be a bit bias here but here goes.....

I was looking for a good school with a referrals

No website at the time, that I knew of

The synergy

Do you have a work study program? I was worried about paying for the school. How long had the instructors been in the field.

All of the above but I remember I was looking for a school that offered more hours then the others at the time.

Yes

Not all instructors can teach across the curriculum, so if a school is aware of lack of ability (example can teach NMT but not stand and deliver text book A & P) then the school should hire or cross train someone else.

Perhaps on a career path but not necessarily a school.

Phone, and yes I was impressed that the director of the school answered the phone and classes started the very next evening so I knew this was the right place for me. She made me feel at ease and comfortable with the program and asked me to join the class for the evening to see if it was for me or not. I knew it was before I hung up the phone.

I was drawn in.
