I'm having issues with getting QuickBooks Simple Start 2009 set up for my massage business, does anyone have any suggestions, or advice on how to obtain templates, make templates specifically for a massage buisiness?

I've been using Quickbooks since 1992 (my latest version is 2006).

The easiest way to get started is to create a Chart of Accounts.
Bank (your financial institution)
Fixed assets (property, cars, equipment)
Other current asset (petty cash, for example)

Don’t forget a credit card account.

Next, create a list of income accounts (clients, teaching, retail sales, interest income, etc) and then a list of expenses (rent, utilities, travel and lodging, supplies, ect).

Then start entering transactions. I do this once a month (when the bank statement arrives).

At then end of the year, I just hand the program over to an accountant and he runs with it.

Also, Under the HELP menu, there are several options including a learning center and tutorials.

Some people like Microsoft Money (but quickbooks does the trick for me).

Good luck and let me know if you have a specific question.

You learn as you go, really… and repetition is the key to learning!
Biggest issue I am having is getting the online banking to integrate with Simple Start 2009. I have set up the Chart of Accounts, but I guess with Simple Start it doesn't have the access for a .QBO file and I have to download a template, but when I attempt that, it says the folder isn't created to install to. Weird it doesnt give an option to set the folder up. Maybe I need to upgrade to Pro?
