The World Massage Festival announces “The Massage Therapy Project”, born on the 4th of July, 2010. It will be a project to preserve Massage History.
This is an effort to compile a massage reference library and repository for massage-related literature, artifacts and history. Therapists, authors and instructors may submit their materials and become a part of Massage History.
Many items from private collections will be housed in the repository for present day therapists and future generations to view and learn from, as well as items from independent sources, the World Massage Festival and Massage Therapy Hall of Fame.
The WMF is reviewing several different locations across the country, as a possible home for the Project. Do you have a suggestion for the location of the repository? Please contact Mike Hinkle with the World Massage Festival with your input at http://www.worldmassagefestival.com, festival@worldmassagefestival.com or 336-957-8997.

Hi Mike !
If not in the mountains of NC then I would think somewhere in the Central US, however being that Massage and Bodywork Professionals are all over the globe, this is going to be a tough one. I do not want to take away from our friends across either oceans. Peace Travis
What a Grand idea. I am sure that everyone can have some thoughts on the best location. We definitly need a place to keep our history though. GREAT to put it out there, now it can fly.

You and Cindy come up with the most amazing ideas. Unity and Progress for the greatest numbers will definately come into play here, along with an overseer of the goods to be stored in a nice air conditioned building. The overseers will have a wealth of information at their hands. What a gift. Could also be a big job cataloging these special prizes. Dedicated volunteers for sure is needed here. Okay Powers that be, we are asking for a wonderful location to please be revealed and special folks to take this project on.
My suggestion is looking at some of the teaching institutions. A lot of historical repositories are housed at universities. They tend to be long lived and have space to house or build a "museum" Personally, I'm thinking Boulder College of Massage Therapy- they have been a non-profit teaching institute for over 30 years and are centrally (almost) located.
Okay world, Mike and Cindy have given us a great idea to share our profession Guyes in Asia and Europe need a place we can visit to, so think about it. Peace Travis

Mike, I think Judy Calvert has a History of Massage display - nice stuff. Be sure to hook up with her on this one.
