My article on Social Networking appeared in the July/August 2009 issue of Massage & Bodywork. They graciously allow everyone to read their digital edition online whether you are a subscriber or not.
HBR graciously published the entirety of the article for all to see, without the need for a subscription as well
I just said that because one of the competing mags charges you:)

Interesting article.

I found some good information in it, but this part stood out:

"DG updated its (Facebook) page several times a week with pictures of goodies, news about contests and promotions, links to favorable reviews, and introductions to DG employees".

I've found the idea's above to be very important in SUCCESSFUL implimentation of a Facebook account. (Regardless if it's a personal account, a Group or a Fan page.)

I've had quite a few folks come to me after throwing together a Facebook page or sending out two hundred tweets and ask, "why isn't this social media working"?

Well, because social media (imho) is a process not a blueprint.

Also, just because you create a beautiful fan page for your massage business doesn't mean you'll have clients and fans flocking in to join you.

Getting the basics right and having a professional page is similiar to the ante in a poker game. You haven't won the pot with your ante, you've only earned the right to stay in the game ;)

Creative, original content, building and developing relationships, etc., etc. I'll get off the soapbox ;)
