Does anyone have experience working with a client that had viral menigitis? What precautions should be taken above universal health and safety precautions? The infection was almost a month ago and I have asked for a physicians note but what should I expect and what should I be aware of? Thank you

While serious, Viral Meningitis is rarely fatal in normally healthy people. An infected person is usually only contagious during the period of time that they are symptomatic. If your client's symptoms have been gone for more than a couple of weeks, you shouldn't worry beyond your normal precautions. The risk is slightly greater if you or the client is immunocompromised. You can find answers to important questions like this at the CDC website -http://www.cdc.gov/ Hope this helps.

Thank you Linda. I appreciate your response and I will view the cdc site as well.
