I was reading another post on here and I'm curious. How many MTs on here also do regular workshops? Also, what topics are the workshops covering? How much are you charging, where are you holding them, and how many people do you usually have for each workshop?

I've always considered doing ones, preg, couples, self-care ones, but never really pulled together any details yet.

So now I'm curious, who out there is doing this? How is it working out?

I have only seen a few workshops that I would like to attend but most are not in my area or price range. I do not even know anyone who has attended them. My guess is though that there are so many that they must be of some success and probably more in states that require continued education. I personnally would like to see more in the Akron Ohio area and reasonably priced. It is especially difficult to go to these when you are first starting out and do not have the steady clientele coming in to cover expenses.
Please let me know if you find any more out.

I have organizational approval as a CE provider, so in addition to teaching myself (Ethics, marketing, insurance billing and other classes), I also host 10-12 other classes a year taught by other people. This year's offerings include Indian Head Massage, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Oncology Massage, Tuning up the Core, Orthopedic Massage, Lomi-Lomi, NMT classes for Carpal Tunnel, Low Back Pain, Shoulder Pain, TMJ Dysfunction, and Lymphatic Drainage. Classes are anywhere from $50 for a 3-hour class to around 500. for 25 hour + classes. The visiting instructors set their own price. Attendees range from a couple of people (some of the local teachers don't mind doing small classes for just a few) up to 36 people. Table classes at my facility are limited to 14 people. It holds 7 tables comfortably and I don't like for people to feel crowded at a class. I've been offering CEs since 2002. It has worked well for me.

The primary task for you is to write a list of learning objectives and then create a lesson plan that will meet those objectives.
Melissa, are you talking about workshops for the general public to educate and build your clientele, or CE workshops for yourself???
