massage and bodywork professionals

a community of practitioners

I know that some of us are suffering right along with everyone else during these trying economic times. I am hoping that we can share ideas on how to beat this and push through to the other side.
I have put together some gift baskets filled with lots of useful little items and plan to take them around to some of the surrounding business neighbors. I also pass out my business cards that have a "Get Five and Save" discount on the backside, kind of like frequent buyers thing.

What are some of your favorite ideas?

Hi Andrea,

I really like both your ideas. I'm running a summer special on my therapies: Buy 3, get 1, must be used by Sept. 15th. Since my therapies usually involve a series for many people, this is a good deal for them. My practice is also in a snowbird community, so summer discounts are almost expected here by the people who stay on. I also have a $20 coupon on my website for first time clients. It's still been slow, and I think part of that is definitely the economy, but even in "good years" my practice cuts back quite a bit in summer. It gets so hot here, people get out of town and you can hardly blame them.

I'm using the down time to be productive: network more, mail letters to local healthcare providers, follow up and shake hands, get to know them, their practices, their needs, see how my practice might compliment theirs. Also using the time to get more press releases out, update brochures, redirect marketing, etc. I'm also using this slow time to educate the community. Most recently I did a talk on JFB MFR at our new Whole Foods in Chandler.
