Hi katie,
The only suggestion I have in addition to what Ariana laid out is an actual demonstration and use of essential oils. You may want to spotlight some of the more versatile oils like Lavender, Lemon, and Peppermint. If you can get ahold of a few oils and bring them to class, that would make a better impact. That way your presentation will allow people to experience the oils. Then you can highlite some of the uses of each oil you bring.
Another demonstration you can do is blend some oils together to show how a blend can change the characteristics of single oils into a synergistic blend that is greater than the sum of the parts. Blending is a creative artform which is the very exciting part of aromatherapy. There are limitless possibilities. A good blend will contain oils whose natures are complimentary to each other. A bad blend is one where the natures of the oils contradict each other like mixing a stimulant with a sedative.
Have fun and good luck!
Hi Katie,
You could do a paper on what kinds of reactions you get from a group of people when you ask them to smell 5 kinds of essential oils.Ask them,Do you like the scent, does it remind you of anything,Does it have a calming affect,or does it make you want to get up and run........I did something like that way back and it was how I got started knowing what oils to burn in my office for my massage practice.Good luck with your paper.
All the best-Emma
