I would like to extend an invitation to join my holistic wellness directory under massage therapist, under name and state. The basic listing is free..The premium listing gives you more exposure, links, etc.

I am offering a number of cadaver labs ranging from 3-6 hours in June and July.
I am also offering Anatomy in Clay workshops as well. One is on the muscles of the shoulder girdle and the other is on the muscles of pelvic tilt. These classes use the Zahourek pro-model manekins.
For more information and to sign up, please visit my website (www.learnmuscles.com) and go to the workshops page!

Thank you Damian for your thoughts on trademarking modalities. I've shared some of your thoughts in the past.

I now teach Mana Lomi®, a trademarked form of lomilomi or Hawaiian bodywork developed by Mana Lomi® founder Dr. Maka'ala Yates, D.C., drawing on his lineage of teachers. Dr. Yates trademarked Mana Lomi® in order to support it's integrity - to maintain it as a body of work and especially to susain its connection with its lineage and source.

Various lomilomi styles are now practiced worldwide. Lomilomi was initially shared outside of the indigenous Hawaiian community in the 70's as part of a still on-going native Hawaiian cutural renassaince. This renaissance is revuvenating aspects of Hawaiian culture such as language, celestial navigation, Hawaiian values, healing arts, hula and more. These cultural practices have been systematically attacked or suppressed during the past 200 years via religious and political events in Hawaii related to the effects of Western contact on the originally land based, indigenous Hawaiian culture.

For the past 40 years some lomilomi training taught and practiced outside of Hawaii has lost connection to its original teachers and developed over time into a modality that some indigenous Hawaiian healers strongly prefer would not be identified, and marketed, as Hawaiian. I am aware of some intense pain and strong resentment related to the concept of cultural theft on this issue in the Hawaiian community.

Using trademark registration is one tool to maintain Mana Lomi® healing bodywor in tact so that it can be passed to future generations rather than simply blending together with other, also effective but not Hawaiian, modalities of bodywork.

I hope my comments may shed a bit of light on the subject of trademarking bodywork modalities. I'm interested in reflections others may have on this subject.

Aloha,
Barbara Helynn Heard

Hello Everyone.
I have a question for all of you. I am currently scouting locations for a series of classes. I have found that when the food is included and you do not have to go out the class time flows better everyone seems happier. Which would you prefer a seminar that includes meals/break snacks/ coffe for a higher fee or just the seminar and food is up to you for a lower fee?
