Hi, All...I'm so glad to join this group. Just Monday I turned in paper work to volunteer with the local home health hospice department. Their initial training prepares us to sit with the patient and keep them company. We can also relieve the primary caregiver for up to two hours so they can 'get away' for a while. The company was very excited to hear I am a LMT and I'm looking forward to using my massage skills in this setting. I've read a few posts on this page and have already picked up some tips so I'll be returning frequently. Thanks so much for being such a valuable resource.
How wonderful Bonnie. I have worked side by side with Hospice on many ocassions as an old CNA. If I had stayed in that field I would have persued employment with them. Hospice was wonderful when they came in at the end of life stage and helped us take care of my Dad until he passed on. It takes a very special person to be with the elderly at the end of life. That says a great deal about you. Congratualtions to you. You will be blessed many times over for giving to that speacial group of folks.
