Hi Everyone! I am excited to join a group of fellow NJ therapists. I look forward to receiving lots of information, and giving it where I can.

Hi Marrisa - I assume you are inquiring to the massage licensing bill. You actually need to have a certificate of completion, along with a beakdown of what the course entailed. You can be grandfathered in under the new law, but you still need 200 hours of certification. It breaks down to 150 of practicum, 45 of anatomy & physiology, and 5 of ethics. The certification is to identify your scope of practice. Under the grandfathering you need to prove 5 years of part time, or 2 years of full time practice to be eligible for the grandfathering feature. Otherwise you need the basic criteria outlined under the law (not so basic).
Hope this answers the question.

Hello Nymea
Welcome to the group. As of now you're hours are fine. Changes are still happening in NJ regarding licensure. The following was taken from the NJ Board of Nursing' website - today.
45:11-60 Eligibility for certification.
To be eligible for certification as a massage, bodywork and somatic therapist, an applicant shall be of good moral character and submit to the committee satisfactory evidence of:
a. Successful completion of a minimum of 500 hours in class study in the field of massage, bodywork and somatic therapies approved by the committee; or
b. Successful completion of the written examination offered by The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork or a substantially equivalent examination approved by the committee to determine the applicant's competence to call himself a massage, bodywork and somatic therapist. The successful completion of any such examination may have been accomplished before the effective date of this act.
Here is the link to the website :http://www.state.nj.us/lps/ca/massage/index.htm. I would suggest that you check the site often and submit your Application now. If you need anything further assistance drop me a line. Happy to help.
All the Best,
Michael.

Lisa, I LOVE Watsu!
I will pass the word onto my NJ Contacts. I live in NC now.
I used to have a holistic health center in NJ many years ago too! Good Luck! If you ever want to host Lomi Lomi at your place, I would love to come and teach it there. I just did one in May '09 in Ocean City.

Good Luck & Blessings!
Gloria
PS Mike Hinkle from massagenews.org will post your classes on his site for free.
