When trying to establish myself as a good therapist, i understand how important trust is when a client is choosing an MT.
I would like to be able to publish client testimonials, so that I can offer potential new clients a resource for reviewing "references" of my work.

How would you go about obtaining client testimonials without being too pushy?

When I get a new client I give them a packet with my newsletter, some pamphlets, and a client survey sheet that I offer them $5.00 off next visit when they return it. There is a place on it to write a testimonial and that's what I use.
Thanks, This is great Information.
I am working on putting together m my New Client packs now, so will include this with it.

If you've done a good job and you can see their satisfied faces, and especially if they are a returning client, then they are usually only too happy to accomodate you.
I've never had a problem with this, nor would I bribe them to do so. You can usually tell whom you would ask. I usually ask my clients to email me at their convenience a few short sentences of how well they liked the treatment. I never publish full names. Only their first name, their last name initialed, and the city/state where they live.
Where I work we use post paid returnable post cards that have a survey on them and also an on line survey they fill out 2 days after their massage. We have received both positive and negative feedback on the massages which is good. We want to hear both so improvements can be made.
*shrug* I ask my returning clients, the ones I've developed a rapport with, "Hey, I'd like to put some testimonials up on my website. Would you be up for emailing me a couple of lines? Preferably good ones?" (said with a wink and a grin).

When you gets clients who like you, they will proselytize about you to anyone walking near. I can't tell you how many times I've run into clients (I live in a small town) who boastingly introduce me to their friends as "This is my massage therapist! She's awesome!" Heck, last week, I had a client voluntarily offer to write me a letter of recommendation--he used to be a nurse at the hospital I'm getting in with and knows the director of the upcoming integrative medicine program. I've also had another client (a while back) volunteer to introduce me to one of the hospital directors.

These clients want to see you succeed--if only so you'll still be around to continue working on them! :D
