Hello,

Someone had posted a question regarding transferring to another state (Florida) after taking a National test and was inquiring as to how difficult it would be to attain the State license in that particular state. I don't see the actual post she wrote but I had a question about that....

I was under the impression that if you took the National Testing that you didn't have to take the state's required board license. I thought the National test covers all states?

I would like to have some clarification on this.

Thanks!

Laurie

In the State of Florida you have to be nationally certified. Then when transferring to Florida once natioanlly certified you have to take Florida's requried CEU's in a classroom setting which is Florida Law, Ethics, Medical errors, and HIV. It can take up to 2 months or longer depending on notification to Florida Board and transfering school records.
National is not acceptable everywhere. When I moved to Hawaii, they still made me sit for their state exam. This was about 9 years ago. I don't know if that has changed. So MT's need to check every state requirement before they transfer.
Thanks for the replies, guys...I can see now how much it varies from state to state. How confusing that not all states can come together to make it easier by just making it standardized to one national test all across the board.
