Lots of Questions

I am getting a lot of questions from therapists just starting out and thought maybe a discussion group could serve as a reference point for them.
This time of transition is a delicate time. So many therapists lose confidence. Do not let this be you. This group is here to help you make it. You ARE one of us!

There is now an alliance forming for therapists and students at the Massage Therapy Alliance of America. Click on this link for details http://www.mtaamassage.org

I received an email post from an Aisha today, but do not see the comment here on the site?
Anyway, you were asking for help on your test taking. I understand your concern and anxiety.
As a result of hearing this story very often Aisha, I created an online course specifically to help individuals like yourself.
I go through study techniques, stress reducing methods, 3 cognitive levels of thinking and how to answer questions. I break the questions and answers down to teach you how to look for what they are asking etc. There are quizzes and a practice exam. It is in a powerpoint format with my audio guiding you.
You can find the link to the online training at my site www.massageproce.com
Hope this helps and Much Success. YOU CAN DO IT!

This is fantastic Gloria! Do you have flyers? I am about to contact about 1700 schools. We are going to feed students and schools at the Festival on Friday. Would love to have a flyer there for them too.

For those of you preparing for a massage exam or ready to take your National Certification or MBLex; I have created a review course for you online! It consists of study skills, deciphering the 3 levels of cognitive thinking to answer your questions, what to study, quizzes and practice exam!
You must have speakers on your computer to listen to the power point presentation/audio. Much Success!

Thanks to Mike for starting this group - excellent idea! Self-care is a vitally important issue for all those starting to work in massage therapy. You want to start out with healthy work habits from the start, since it's much more difficult to undo bad habits later. I invite you all to discuss self-care, injury prevention and ergonomics strategies here, visit or join our group on this web site, Save Your Hands, or let me know if I can be of assistance. Best of luck to you all! Best regards, Lauriann Greene, CEAS www.saveyourhands.com.

Amanda- I recently put in my resignation with a company that had similar issues. The only thing you really can do is take matters into your own hands. Get your employer's permission to list their name and address on your marketing strategies. They should not have any issues, because it may bring in clientele to their business as well.
Talk to the stylists. I rent a room out of a salon right now and the stylists are my biggest referral resources. Work out a deal with them that every person that comes in saying that "stylist" sent them to you, that stylist will get a free 30 minutes or 1/2 price massage. Some kind of incentive for them to rave about you to their clients.
Don't give up! I hope this helps.
