What is the difference besides certification between a Doula and a certified pre & peri-natal massage therapist?

If you are a Twitter(er), you can look forward to a great Doula discussion on Friday at 11pm EST using the hashtag #doulaparty . There are so many amazing doulas on Twitter, I hope that some of you will join us!

Come to the Midwifery Today convention (www.midwiferytoday.com) in King of Prussia, PA April 14-17. Learn from the leaders in the field.

Elaine Stillerman, LMT (MotherMassage (R)) is offering an 8-hour course on massage techniques for midwives and doulas.

The next class that is set to go is October 22nd (Thursday) thru October 25th (Sunday) from 9 to 5 ~ The cost is $650 and you will need to send a deposit to hold your spot of $100 along with an essay as to why you want to be an Infant Massage Educator.

I look forward to speaking with you about the class ~ I'm hoping to be part of it this time around.

I have been a MT for a 5 1/2 years and over the past couple of years have really enjyed working with my pre-natal clients. Many of them have suggested that I should seek additional training as a doula. I am very interested in doing this but don't know where to start. Any help would be great. Thanks

I wish that I were in CO and had access to this course. However, I am in Ohio. I was nationally certified in a great course two years ago in maternity massage and have several close friends who are doulas. I considered becoming a doula myself to follow the client from pre natal massage to delivery into post natal massage.Currently I am exploring the offering of a preganancy massage package that begins with maternity massages, then post delivery treatments of massages of sa-wan thai treatments and mother roasting. Any experiences with these treatments in the discussion group?
