Does anyone in the group participate or host reiki shares? If you do, are they private (just practitioners) or open to the public? Did you have any problems?

Little introduction about me:
I am a Energy Worker, Reiki Master Teacher, Spiritual Counselor, Tarot Reader, Mentor, and Ordained Minister. I am also a LICENSED massage therapist in North Carolina (6654). I have been performing energy work since 1995. I began my journal as an Energy Worker and Tarot Reader when I was 18 years old. In 2005, I became a Reiki Master Teacher. I am a member of Light & Energy Workers Association, which was founded in March 2004. Light & Energy Workers Association (LEWA) is a non-profit spiritual organization in North Carolina, USA. Honoring our unconditional regard for all spiritual paths, we are non-denominational and interfaith - (www.networkthelight.net) I am also a member of the American Tarot Association (www.ata-tarot.com).

We should all remember that there was a time in which western medicine didn't "believe in" acupuncture or the meridian system, much less an energetic field around the body either. It wasn't until our science developed the right techniques to detect such things & their functions that we gained understanding about them. Meanwhile acupuncture & it's related fields have been utilized for a few thousand years & worked just fine, before the scientists could verify their effectiveness.

All of which goes to show that science doesn't have to prove everything first, in order for it to work, or to exist.

Energy work to me is a true gift from God. I am still new at all the wonders of energy work and always amazed at the affects it can and has make in me.

Totally loving this conversation ! As a woman who walks daily with both the spirits and the scientists, the one thing I notice most is that when there are open hearts, open minds and open wills, a way will emerge that is neither provable nor disprovable, but simply works.
I just go with what works. And relax into the mystery of the rest......

Hi Chistopher -

Well, you can't really exclude the spirits - they're around anyway - even in the lab. There are obvious philosophical issues about invoking "super natural" explanations, but that doesn't mean you can't start exploring their (our) realm and learning the cosmography of their (our) worlds, and the meta-physics that might apply.

In my experience there do seem to be "invariants" (i.e.: symmetries), so you can begin to talk about formal descriptions. But this is another issue.

Homeopathy has a hand tied behind its back in regards to research. It is promoted to be used like an allopathic medicine ("take this pill to kill the bad bugs"), but I have a hunch that its affect is through spiritual channels. So studies need much more subtle design... I dunno - just my current thoughts. (Incidentally, I use homeopathics for myself and loved ones, and they seem effective. My wife used to work in the homeopathic industry.)

Happy trails!

Hi Stuart.

It is not at all difficult to design studies of homeopathy, or of most energy medicine practices, so that they are double-blind.

As for spirits... Well, once you are using spirits as explanation for natural phenomena, there really isn't much point in talking about anything related to research, is there?
