EFAs or essential fatty acids are not produced within our bodies but are essential. We can find sources of EFAs in foods such as flax seed, borage seed oil, fish oil to name a few. These oils offer many wonderful benefits to our body including supporting our cardiovascular system, acting as a lubricant for joints, supporting the skin and offering anti-inflammatory properties.

What does this have to do with carpal tunnel syndrome?

According to Phyllis A. Balch, a certified nutritional consultant and author of "Prescription for Nutritional Healing," EFAs are required by your body for proper nerve function and for their potent anti-inflammatory effects.

A 2010 study by G.D. Ko and colleagues published in the "Clinical Journal of Pain" states that omega-3 fatty acids, a type of essential fatty acid, may be helpful in managing neuropathic pain, such as the pain caused by carpal tunnel syndrome.

I personally have experienced great results with tendinitis.

Confused about what EFAs are the best to take? Would you like to learn more or have questions? Shoot me an email or post here. In addition to being a MT I am also a certified clinical nutritionist and would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have on this topic or any other for that matter.
