Lisa, you asked the question a year ago about the differences between MLD and LDT. What is the difference?

Does anyone bill medicare for cdt? Form 1500. Do you work with a PT or hospital? Any positive or negative feelings?

Hi everyone. I am a newly graduated therapist and am wanting to train in mld. Once trained, how do you market that specialty though? I get the impression most hospitals use physical therapists for lymphatic treatments. Do you have any suggestions on how to break in to the field? Sorry if that question is too general!

I have trainedextensively (I am at what is considered intermediate level) with John F. Barnes P.T. in Myofascial Release (MFR). Through the techniques and releases achieved during MFR treatments, clients also have memory releases, as the "freeze" response that occurs during trauma "thaws." As part of our training we also work with dialoging during the treatment to assist client's complete the process that was halted in events of trauma, and to come through to "the other side" of their holding pattern. It is amazing to watch and participate in. I also received training in Transpersonal Somatic Therapy with Lee Joseph. The body, mind and emotions, as well as memories and the processing of same, are so interconnected that it is of great benefit to clients to hold speace for them in a healing environment. I find that also receiving that work is critically important, to stay as aware, alive and connected as I can be.

Mimi, can I ask how much LDT training you have? I've wanted to try to coordinate with local surgeons, but wondered what level of training I should have first.

I have studied Heart Centered Therapy with Alaya Chikly (Bruno's wife), which is a dialoging method to help clients with trauma issues. Some sort of dialoging therapy like hers or Somato Emotional Release work from Upledger will give you the tools you need to help clients if some memories occur. There are so many people who have trauma issues, which includes car accidents to rape, that go to bodyworkers like us, that it just seems prudent to have a way to handle the trauma situations that come up. I am very comfortable with using the dialoging techniques now, and I feel better prepared for what ever happens. Clients feel safer, and reschedule with me, because I can deal with these situations.
