massage and bodywork professionals

a community of practitioners

Establishment owners are the neglected part of the field, yet they employ more therapists than anyone. Just look how long it took to get the group online and I was an owner.

There are so many areas where therapists can assist and learn to help shop owners all over the country. Hopefully, this group can get them to understand the owners side. They may be considering a shop of their own someday and this group may help them with these considerations.

I am looking forward to these discussions, even though I now have no set location, anymore. Every owner has learned things that might make life a little easier for those that follow! I look forward to questions and comments.

I have taken a huge leap of faith and am opening up 2 establishments at once! Scared? yes! Crazy? yes! But I am called to do it. I plan on growing enough to help provide work for other therapists, and at a good wage, so am pleased to see the creation of this group. Thankx for starting this group.... looking forward to discussions and the sharing of information.
I am looking forward to hearing your stories about how you beat the challenges that you are sure to face in the coming months. See, if I had started "Massage TV", this would be a reality show on it!!!

Oooh, Jana, I think you just nailed it...putting the left-brain logic into my world is where I get panicky, too. When you succeed, please let me know how you did it! Good luck with your new ventures, I look forward to hearing how it all goes.
yep... i am truly learning as i go! i am currently marketing like a madwoman! one establishment is a transfer...the other just happened... chiro that wanted me to work on his patients didn't have an est. lic., and i refused to put my therapist license on the line... so now i am getting a secondary location at the same time! i no longer see the word "CAN'T" in my life, so i just need to somehow make it all work!

How far apart are they?

they aren't really that far apart... but are distinctly different. the chiro's location will allow for more expansion than the other location, which only has one treatment room, within a yoga studio... they fit both the energy worker in me, as well as the neuromuscular/sports therapist...

i may end up having someone else at the studio... depends... it has availability issues... one must walk through the studio to get to the treatment room... so accessibility is limited to non-yoga or meditation times, still a lot of availability, but not any time i so choose, so no walk-ins.... nice part is that, if i have a client that needs a specific time, i have both locations to choose from, and they are not too far from one another to make that unpalatable... i will have 24/7 availability at the chiro's if i so choose, sooo..... will see what presents itself.... in the mean time, i can also utilize the studio for qigong classes, bring in a tai chi instructor, hold seminars, etc....
Sounds good!
